Mangaluru: Fr Dr Charles Vas SVD's musical ballet Prem Ragini performed at Holy Family Church Omzoor

Mangaluru, Mar 18: 'Melody of Love' (Prem Ragini), a love song on the Biblical themes from creation of the universe to the resurrection of our Lord Jesus directed by 'A Singing Visionary, A Dancing Missionary': A Bhajan Chanting Catholic Priest'; 'An Evangelist through Dance' famed Fr Dr Charles Vas, SVD was organized on March 16 at Holy Family Church, Omzoor.

Around 50 artistes from Sangeeth Abhinay Academy, Mumbai performed 'Prem Ragini' ballet providing a holistic experience.

During the occasion Fr Dr Charles Vas was felicitated by Mangalore Diocese vicar general Msgr Maxim Noronha.



Fr Charles Vas was born in Omzoor parish. He was later ordained priest of SVD Congregation in 1976. His journey of preaching on experiencing God through song and dance started since then. He has produced more than 40 devotional CDs. Fr Charles Vas is a poet, composer, musician and director of various musical events.

More than 1000 people in and around Omzoor parish witnessed the gala musical event. The free cultural musical ballet was organized by the parish council of Holy Family Church, Omzoor, Mermajal under the able leadership of Fr Alwyn D'Cunha, present parish priest.

Earlier, the parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha welcomed the gathering. Parish pastoral council vice president Patrick Pinto read the citation on Fr Charles Vas. Secretary Oswal D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
