Udupi: No election-related advertisement without permission, warns DC Hepsiba Korlapati

Udupi, Mar 17: "It is mandatory to obtain permission from the ACMC committee before telecasting advertisements in local cable channels, related to politics of district political parties and their candidates. Action will be taken against the erring channels," said DC and chief election officer of the district Hepsiba Rani Korlapati.

Hepsiba presided over the meeting of the owners of local cable operators on Saturday, March 16. Korlapati further said, "As the expenses of each candidate and political party is taken into account, all the cable operators must telecast the election-related advertisements at the cost prescribed by the district administration only. Permission needs to be sought from the ACMC committee, by applying in prescribed form, three days before telecasting the advertisement. We have made arrangements to observe the telecasting of the cable channels 24x7 and the programmes are being recorded also."

ADC Vidyakumari, Nodal officer of ACMC committee and chief project office of zilla panchayat Srinivasa Rao, district information officer B A Khader Shah and the owners of various cable channels of the district were present.
