Now, district Congress opposes decision to offer Udupi seat to JD(S)

Udupi, Mar 14: Close on the heels of AICC member Amrith Shenoy threatening to quit the Congress over offering the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat to coalition partner JD(S), the Udupi district Congress committee on Thursday March 14 urged the party high command to reconsider the decision.

Some of the local Congress members expressed anger over the party's decision by burning tyres in front of the party office here on Thursday night. Udupi district Youth Congress presdent Vishwas Amin, district Congress vice-president Prakhyat Shetty and others were part of the protest.

In a meeting held earlier in the day, the Udupi district Congress unit said that JD(S) has no presence in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency and opined that Congress had a better chance of winning here.

"The JD(S) has no representatives in the panchayat, nor is it active at the block level. The Congress has a strong presence even at the booth level and its leaders are active. Our party has strong candidates who have been supported by the electorate earlier, and they must be taken into consideration and be given ticket in the Lok Sabha polls.

"The strength of the Congress party in Udupi was evident on March 10 during the 'Parivarthana Yatra' that witnessed a large turnout. Besides, BJP candidate Shobha Karandlaje faces opposition even within her own party. Since situation is favourable to us, this time if we field Congress candidate against her, we have a better chance of winning," they said.

In the meeting presided over by district party president Ashok Kumar, the local leaders urged the state party chief and the high command to change the earlier decision to field JD(S) candidate from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency.

The polling for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will begin from April 11, and the votes will be counted on May 23. In Karnataka, the polling will be held on April 18 and 23.

Why JP Hegde always wants to contest.
When he was in Congress , he wanted to contest.
    Joined BJP he wants ticket.
    Joining JDS wants ticket.
He is not a big threat.
    BJP should ignore him.
Let him contest from JDS and lose the election.
In that way his political career will come to an end.

Why are you burning tyres outside? Why you want to pollute the environment?

Your central leadership in order to save Moily ( who has already betrayed our district just like laughing Gowda) has alloted Udupi to JDS. This is part of our politics. JDS does not even has 10% vote share in Udupi.

You fight this injustice in party forum , if denied quit the posts and put pressure.

This is back lash to Congress
Instead of gaining Udupi MP seat
Congress sold the seat to JDS at no cost
Congress had candidates like Pramodh, Mithun
Why they didn’t field one of them ? Why Leaders are silent ?
Still time is not beyond control .. leaders think twice . Take division .
For me bro Vivian is the right choice baby as the independent candidate
He is a pure veggie .. not consuming any kind of hard liquor
Symbol no need to search .. when he was in Bajpe he was hard agriculturist
All kind of spinach’s (including Rompo) and kerengs he was cleaning
Early morning loading the items to bus and unloading too at state bank
Many pick up drop facilities he provided to ladies wing members including memberships. Therefore he got mass leadership status wheeever he goes
He is very good relationship with Shobha too happens to be our running MP
    Can Persue yediyurappa too .
VV tine is running out of control . Don’t waste this opportunity.. file your nomination. Koti and jiliya ready to propose and second . We will work hand to hand to see you as future MPS of our beloved twin districts Udupi and chickmangalore!
All the very best for you in this mission MP
