Karkala, Feb 23: A man, from Kuppabettu of Kukkundoor village near here, assaulted his wife and mother-in-law with an iron rod on the night of Thursday, February 21.
Both the injured have been admitted to a private hospital. Police have taken the accused into custody.
Dawood, driver of a private bus, is the one who is accused of assaulting his wife Hasina and her mother. A case already was registered earlier in the name of Dawood for inflicting mental and physical torture on his wife. On Thursday, an argument ensued between Dawood and wife Hasina with regards to the same issue. Dawood's mother-in-law also got entangled in the argument. Dawood, who got furious as the argument heated up, attacked his mother-in-law with an iron rod. Hasin who tried to rescue her mother was also attacked with the same rod.
It is said that the accused used to create ruckus quite often after consuming alcohol.
A case in this regard stands registered in the city police station based on the complaint filed by Hasina.
