Udupi, Feb 21: Inauguration of new school building of Don Bosco CBSE School Shirva and CBSE affiliation will be held on February, 23 at the school ground here, informed Fr Dennis D’Sa, correspondent, Don Bosco School.

He was addressing media persons at Udupi press club here on Thursday, February 21. He said, “Dr G Parameshwara, deputy chief minister of Karnataka will inaugurate the school building. Fr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi and president of CESU will preside over the programme.

“Guests of the honour of the programme are Dr Jayamala, district in-charge minister Udupi, Oscar Fernandes, member of parliament, Shobha Karandlaje, MP Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, Ivan D’souza, MLC and secretary of parliamentary affairs, Lalaji Mendon, MLA Kaup, Mable Rebello, former MP, Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA Kaup, Msgr Bpst Menazes, vicar general, diocese of Udupi, Rev Dr Lawrence D’souza, secretary, CESU Udupi, Fr Antony Serrao, secretary, CBE Mangaluru, Fr Stany Tauro, former correspondent, Don Bosco CBSE School Shirva, Prof Mathew Ninan, director, Little Rock Indian School Brahmavar, Manjuladevi, education consultant Bengaluru, Wilson Rodrigues, member Udupi zilla panchayat, Geetha Wagle, Udupi taluk panchayat and Varija Poojary, president, shirva panchayat will be present over the programme.

“Followed by the short formal stage function, there will be musical concert to entertain the gathering, which is being organised as part of the affiliation celebration.

“Famous playback singers Anuradha Bhat and Ajay Warrier will thrall the audience with their live music. There will also be dance performance by a renowned professional team from Bengaluru led by Rajgopal,” he said.

Fr Mahesha D’Souza, principal, Don Bosco School, Shirva briefed the media about the school and its developments.

Wilson D’souza, vice president, parish pastoral council Shirva, Melwyn Aranha, commissions coordinator, parish pastoral council Shirva, Leena Machado, secretary, parish pastoral council and Julian Rodrigues, member of school management Shirva were present.

The year 1983 embarked an educational transformation by establishing an English Medium School. The Late Very Rev Fr Aloysius Rosario, a great visionary ahead of his time, with a band of 30 students started the Kindergarten Section. At then in the year 1985, the school got affiliated to Karnataka State Board Education.

The School is under the management of Catholic Education Society of Udupi. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi is the president and Fr Dr Lawrence DSouza is the secretary of the management. In the year 1992 late Fr Sylverster Dsouza founded the high school section.

At present there are 1000 students pursuing education.

Vision is the art of seeing the invisible. Don Bosco English Medium School at Shirva's vision was to impart value based education that will liberate, humanize and transform every student into persons of Character, Competence, Conscience, Commitment and Compassion.

In the year 2016, Fr Stany Tauro took a might leap to introduce CBSE syllabus to the school. The equally enthusiastic and energetic management team under his leadership worked hand in hand to achieve this Herculean task. The foundation stone for the new infrastructure to cater the requirements of a CBSE syllabus was laid on 7th September 2016 by the bishop.

May 25, 2018 was a historical day when the school got its affiliation and came under the mighty banner of Central Board of Secondary Education School Ministry of Human Resources Development. Government of India, Delhi bearing the affiliation number 830838. At present Rev. Fr Denis D'sa is the Correspondent of the School, with his able guidance and vibrant words, all activities of the School is sailing smooth. It is a fully fledged co-education school from Kindergarten Section to Class X and 11 has over a 1,000 students around 85 well qualified, experienced teaching and non teaching faculty.

The students avail safe transportation, healthy, hygienic mid-day meal, smart class, well equipped library, laboratories, computer education, extracurricular activities like keyboard, karate, bharathanatyam, craft, stitching, home science, yoga, drawing etc. To explore their salient talents scouts guides etc. To imbibe national spirit, tolerance various national and religious festivals are celebrated.

The school is located on a vast lush green environment with serene atmosphere. The infrastructure and facilities provided is incomparable. All the latest system and technology is provided. Cleanliness and hygienic wise it is remarkable. There is constant interaction with the parents by conducting meetings. Respect and tolerance towards all religion is observed by celebrating festivals and all faith prayer service. There is an excellent co-ordination between the principal and staff which is well appreciated and working as a team is the essence of our success. The principal as a captain steers the path in the right direction. A counsellor to help some students lacking in the academic performance is available. A nurse is needed for the students to take care of medical needs. The administrative staff, janitors, transportation and kitchen staff are very supportive and cater to the needs of the students lovingly. The year 2020 will be the year when the fruits of the seed planted by the great visionary late Fr Aloysius Rosario and the founder of the CBSE School Fr Stany Tauro will be accomplished when the first batch of class 10 will appear the Board exams under the Central Board syllabus.
