Panaji: Cattle to be brought in to state for slaughter

Panaji, Feb 21 (TOI): The All Goa Qureshi Meat Traders Association has written to the directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services intimating them about bringing animals to the state for slaughter.

“We hereby intimate you that our members will begin bringing animals to GMC (Goa Meat Complex) for slaughter,” president of the association, Manna Bepari, stated in the letter citing a writ petition disposed on February 2 by the high court of Bombay at Goa to make the Usgao meat complex operation as “expeditiously as possible”. The letter dated February 20, was also addressed to the Goa meat complex.

In a separate letter, the association also requested for allotment of quarters for the cattle’s caretaker at the abattoir and office premises in the antemortem cell for resting purpose of drivers transporting the cattle from the neighbouring states.

Transportation of live animals to GMC had been discontinued since October 2018, after cow vigilantes from a Chennai-based organisation called the animal welfare board and objected to the certification process.

I don't think so. When you say India has the world's largest cow slaughterhouse in Hyderabad, cows are killed in BJP ruled states and Indian cow meat is available outside India, like ostrich, our readers are burying their heads in sand.
