Udupi diocese led by Catholic Sabha pay candlelight tribute to Pulwama martyrs

Udupi, Feb 18: Condemning the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Udupi diocese led by Catholic Sabha paid candlelight tribute at Mother of Sorrows Church premises in memory of slain CRPF jawans here on Sunday evening, February 17.

Fr Royson, PRO of Udupi diocese, reading the lines of Bible said, “Those who are living with God, they will get love. Those who follow the words of God, they will be able to love others. It is great thing to who sacrifice lives for people. There is no bigger deed than that.”

Ex-serviceman Arthur Rodrigues said, “Soldiers’ life is very hard and they go through many difficulties. They will get just 5 hours of sleep, one time fresh meal and restless life. I wish and pray that all injured soldiers may get well soon. Let us support and console the martyrs' families. Let us support them with any discrimination of caste, religion and creed. Le t us support the government of India.” He urged that issue should not be used for political gaining.”



Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, spiritual director, Catholic Sabha said, “Pulwama terror attack was a ghastly incident. Let us all condemn it strongly. Let us all unite and pray for the martyrs’ souls. We should remember all souls without any discrimination of caste and religion. Let us show solidarity in grief of the martyrs' families.”

Deon D'Souza, president, ICYM Udupi diocese, Fr Vijay, assistant priest, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, Leena D'Souza, Samuel Jattanna, CSI pastor, and Mary, president, Catholic Sabha, Udupi zone were present.

Alfonsa D’Costa, Christian community leader, compered the programme.

People who gathered, lighted candles to pay tribute to slain CRPF personnel. Before the condolence meet, people observed a minute of silent prayer.
