Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 23: In an incident which happened in a flat at Karambaru near Bajpe on the evening of Tuesday January 22, a man hit his wife repeatedly with a sickle, leaving her badly injured.

Sandesh Shetty and his wife, Shubhavani, used to live in a flat at Karambaru along with their daughter. It is said that Shubhavani had given her money to her husband for acquiring the said flat. On this issue, the husband-wife duo had some misunderstanding two months back, it is said. Frustrated by this development, Shubhavani had begun to stay with her parents.

On Tuesday, Shubhavani visited Kateel temple in the afternoon, and went to the flat at Karambaru in the evening along with her daughter. On this occasion, she had some argument with her husband. In a fit of range, Sandesh is said to have hit Shubhavani with a sickle in her neck, back, chest, head and hand. Shubhavani, who was bleeding profusely, was admitted into a private hospital in the city. She is said to be in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Sandesh, perhaps overtaken by emotions as a result of this incident, consumed some poisonous substance. He stands admitted into Wenlock Hospital here.

Bajpe police have taken up investigation.

    Pradeep,
Now a days, in order to meet the household expenses, husband and wife both are working. Many places wives render their shoulders to their husbands by doing continuous jobs i .e she works 8/9 hours in the office, back home ....part time job either tuition/stitching/beedi/ cooking in other houses/dance/yoga etc plus she will have to handle the house chores too to uplift her husband and family.
Many a times, egoistic husband doesn't allow his wife to-go out alone forget sending her to work on the basis of unwanted doubts and his prestige. He works alone and when members increase, arguments erupt.
In this case toopoor wife gave money towards the flat with the understanding that he cannot cope up alone. He should have invested for flat only not on other things. Food, clothing and shelter are the basic needs Pradeep. Own house they can save lot of rent.. Right?

    Jenifer,
Your advice is good but there are so many instances that married couples will not reach to an understanding even after years of being married. Good understanding no guarantee but cannot postpone child bearing in some cases. Some couples come to an understating only after having a child, who brings happiness and family love.
In the married life if husband is fire wife should be water and fire & fuel.

    Flavian,

Many things are easy to say but difficult to practice. Imagine a couple that finds difficult to feed themselves - how will they manage to feed the child - if its to be believed that happiness comes on a child's arrival ? Isn't it correct to delay a child in such circumstances ? Well, many believe that a child is given by God - isn't its God who is giving them an understanding to delay an additional life until its adequate ?

Actually, if both in a marriage try to live for the other's happiness then only a marriage can work, no matter how difficult situation they are going through. However, all cases are not similar, hence one example isn't sufficient to judge and solve all martial cases.

Anger Lasts only for few minutes But is capable of taking away entire life. Have control over anger Dont react immediately.Close your eyes and keep Quite for few seconds. Situation is bad but all human beings are not bad.

One advice to disputing couples - do not have children until you understand each other and resolve your differences. Because, its the children who get the most bitter impact in the end.

True, Whatever bitterness they have they should first think of their children and if they do not have that capacity to think they should not have kids... Hope the women gets recovered soon ot else its the child who will suffer without mother.. really sad...

Your sympathy towards the father is understandable but the one who took money from his wife to buy a flat ? Displays his capability to raise a child.

Jenifa.. You are right. But controversies/arguments/fights arise after some months or years. Before that foundation stones are laid for children. In the beginning stage, both adjust and go and later on Word "patience" disappear from the dictionary. Here, lady is not at all wrong. When she inquired about the money out of faith, he should have given the reply With that same faith rather than hitting her like that.. Hope she will recover and join her daughter soon.

    This is reply to Jenifer...
I completely agree that the husband is the one who hit her. Having said that, we do know the circumstances of the events that had taken prior to it. When we talk about equality, the wife is equally responsible to share the burden. It should not be case that always the men who should finance or shoulder the burden. May be the money owed is relatively small or may be full amount. May be husband used to deposit some monies on his wife's account and when the need came he used it. To conclude, what I want to really highlight is that, children need both parents and men and women should always share the responsibilities !!

Points noted. However, if equality is to be practiced, today women would also have been members of certain groups rioting around in equal numbers of men. Thankfully, women do understand that the equality should stopped at which point and prefer working to feed their children.

@Pradeep mangalore,I agree you arguement that both should shoulder the house ,may be money ,child raising or other problems.what when a man forgets his duties as a head ?take the money wife earned and goes to bars or play ?there beginns the problems.certainly there they quarrel, child is without food, crys mother beginns to hate husband, exchange words ,and he gets angry ,lifts hand over wife and doesnt spare child. Our indian men mostly wants to show their power over wife .Instead I would appriciate both discuss and go with all problems with understanding and without raising voice.
