Mangaluru: Live laparoscopic colorectal surgery workshop held

Mangaluru, Jan 22: The department of general surgery conducted a live laparoscopic colorectal surgery workshop, a direct relay from GEM Hospital, Coimbatore on January 19. The main operating surgeon was Dr C Palanivelu, a well known surgical Gastroenterologist and renowned Laparoscopic Surgeon of international repute.

The workshop began at 9 am Dr C Palanivelu and his team demonstrated various colorectal surgical procedures, live relay from GEM Hospital, Coimbatore. Delegates could directly interact with the operating surgeon. Senior surgeons in and around Mangalore from different medical colleges moderated the sessions.

Dr Ganesh M K and Dr Nagarjun Rao H T, surgical gastroenterologist, coordinated the overall programme. Dr Leo Francis Tauro, professor & HOD, was the organising chairman and Dr Rakesh Rai, professor & unit head, was the organising secretary of the workshop.

Around 120 delegates attended the workshop. Overall, it was well appreciated by the participants. The programme was compered by Dr Monalisa D’Souza and Dr Supriya Pinto, postgraduate resident.
