Udupi: Contemptuous posts in fake Facebook account - man arrested

Udupi, Jan 22: The city police personnel attached to cyber crime, economic offences and narcotics (CEN) wing, have arrested a person who has been accused of creating Facebook (FB) account by posing himself as a lady and was involved with posting obscene, derogatory and derisive matter through this account.

The arrested accused happens to be Madhumohan Raj (37) from Kasargod Kuttikol Bethurpara House, currently staying near government primary school at Moodu Anjar. He has been charged with opening a FB account in the name of Sneha Suresh, through which he used to post material which are insulting and insensitive. Girish Anchan from here had filed complaint with the police on January 17 about these FB posts.

The accused was produced in the court whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody till February 2.

It is said that through his FB account, this man had also harassed a girl from Kadiyali here. Her mother had filed police complaints four times between 2013 and 2017 about it. A complaint had also been made to Women's Commission. It is gathered that he had also written contemptuous post about an educational institution run by a Swamiji. His FB account has now been kept in abeyance.
