Udupi: Death of man in woman's residence arouses suspicion

Udupi, Jan 21: A person residing in Kannarpady labour colony here died under mysterious circumstances at the residence of a woman at Pragathinagar, Manipal. It is said that the death occurred on Thursday night.

The deceased was Harish (40). He eked out a living by working as painter. Manipal police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, are learnt to have questioned Parveen about the death.

Harish had hanged himself in the house of Parveen. He was admitted into the government hospital at Ajjarkad by Parveen with the help of auto rickshaw driver, it is said.

The Dalit Sangharsh Samiti has expressed suspicion about this death. It has demanded to order probe by Criminal Investigation Department into this death. Udupi district Ambedkar Yuvasene president, Harish Salian, said that Harish was a strong-willed person and hence his death has given rise to suspicion. He said that Harish had relationship with a married woman since the last two to three years, and several questions relating to this death have no answers as of now. In a release, he along with Anil Amblapady, Manjunath Kappettu, Ganesh Nergi, Sunil Kappettu, Gunavanth Tottam, Bhagwandas Malpe and others, therefore urged the concerned to investigate the incident in detail failing which he has warned of strong protest.
