Kundapur: Ten men arrested, two cars seized over attempts to sell leopard skin

Kundapur, Jan 19: CID forest unit, Bengaluru arrested ten men accused of selling leopard skin illegally near Shastri circle, on Friday afternoon January 18. This is the third such instance by the team in a week.

The arrested suspects are identified as Sooraj (34), son of Hindur east resident Shamuel, Mundgod; Raghu, resident of Kaduvinakatte, Bhatkal; Nagaraj, resident of Mayyadi, Byndoor, Kundapur; Nagaraj, resident of Bhatkal Advalli; Pravin Ram Devadiga, resident of Bengre, Chingaramakki; Sanjiva Poojary, resident of Theggrase, Kamabalagadde; Veerendra Shetty (35) resident of Theggarse, Kantadamane; Joswan, resident of Magodu, Honnavar and Sadananda Raiker, son of Sonartheri veeti, Bhatkal.



CID police spoke initially in the guise of customers to the suspects. Sub inspector H K Ravikumar, M S Ramamurthy, staff B H Hemakumar and B V Paramesh had stroked a deal in the guidance of DySP S S Kashi and said that the amount will be paid at Shastri circle, Kundapur. The suspects arrived in Honda two wheeler and Maruthi 800 car in the afternoon when the policemen arrested them. The suspects tried to assault the officials in an attempt to escape. The leopard is said to be four and a half years old. A non bailable case is registered against the suspects. The case is handed over to the forest department.

    Good action. Punish them heaviest fine and prison.Because of such people our wild animals are rare or almost none.In pair of years our grand children have to see them either in zoos or in pictures.Skin is so badly prepared noone will buy it for genuine preparation.
