Mangaluru: Murder inside hotel - accused gets one year RI

Mangaluru, Jan 19: The district chief and sessions court, through a verdict delivered on Thursday January 18, sentenced an accused to one year rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty. The judgement relates to a murder that happened at a hotel in Adyar village.

In this incident, Sadashiva (46), a resident of Neermarga, was murdered. Sadashiva was attacked at 12.30 am on March 3, 2018. He died the next day at the hospital. A case in this connection had been registered at the rural police station here.

Prashanth (27) from Kudtamugeru in Kolnadu was handed down this punishment. The other accused in the case, Satish Shetty, is absconding.

District chief and sessions judge, Kadlur Satyanarayanacharya, who conducted the hearing, examined 14 witnesses. After hearing both the sides, the court came to the conclusion that this was a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and awarded punishment under section 304 (II) of Indian Penal Code.

Kudriya Pushparaj Adyantaya, public prosecutor, had represented the prosecution in the case.
