Kundapur, Jan 18: T Bhoobalan, who was functioning as senior assistant commissioner of this subdivision since a year, has been transferred as the commissioner of Tumakuru City Corporation. The order was issued on Thursday January 17. In his place, project director of urban development cell, Arunaprabha, has been posted as assistant commissioner.

Bhoobalan would be taking charge of Tumakuru City Corporation as commissioner today.

Bhoobalan, a native of Tamil Nadu, happens to be a 2015 batch IAS officer. He had taken over charge as assistant commissioner here on January 16 last year. He was recently promoted as senior assistant commissioner. The officer had come in for lavish praise for the personal interest he had taken during the operation launched to handle flood situation caused by torrential rain during August last year. Bhoobalan had personally taken part in rescue operation of displaced people.

During the one year he was here, Bhoobalan faced some daunting challenges like illegal sand mining, cases of assault during assembly election etc.
