Kundapur, Jan 17: In a tragic incident, a 50-year-old woman was killed after a goods laden truck knocked her down from the two-wheeler, on which she was riding pillion, and ran over her at Margoli near Basrur on Thursday, January 17.

The deceased has been identified as Kodi resident Maimoona.

She had been to her parents’ home in Gulvadi with her husband Haji. They offered prayers at the mosque at Margoli and were returning to their residence at Kodi when the accident took place. They were coming towards Kumudapura when the goods laden truck hit the scooter. Maimoona who was riding pillion, lost control and was thrown to the middle of the road. She came under the rear wheel of the truck crushing and killing her on the spot. Her husband Haji escaped with minor injuries.

DySP Dinesh Kumar, circle inspector Manjappa, Kundapur SI Harish and Kandloor SI Sridhar Naik rushed and set right the traffic which was in chaos. A case has been registered at Kundapur traffic police station.

    In foreign countries getting the license great news.But in India whoever can get license if no driving knowledge.That is why every day people are meeting to death by accident.

    Not always sir.... it's some time the over confidence our drivers have. Mainly on 2 wheelers , autos and Heavy truck drivers. What a reckless driving we get to see... 2 wheelers like whole world on their foot... what a reckless driving.. directly as if they want to come under your wheel and you need to ensure you escape them. Autos... they can take and plug any lane , any directions, anywhere... nobody can stop them... Express bus drivers are like their bus owners bought the entire road for them. they don't want anyone to be coming on their way... if you dare to come on their way.. they are permitted to knock you down... so driving license can be a factor .. but I feel mentality , respect for other human is the main issue here.
