Mangaluru, Jan 17: St Aloysius BEd College, a leading institute of teacher education in the city organized a send-off programme for its prospective teachers here. The 'Goodbye' ceremony for the 49 prospective BEd graduates began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer service led by the director and the staff members of the college.

Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, director of the college, said, “Love the profession you have chosen. You can begin now to do what you learned and experienced in the college. Your success is primarily based on how well you prepare and implement it in teaching methodologies. Young minds tend to be less and less comfortable in the present world and this might impact your perception towards the learning process and their involvement in it, but try to understand your students, be flexible with them, understand your role in students' lives and find a mentor in your being. Radiate the core values of Jesuit education through your character which will distinguish your roles as teacher in schools.”

On behalf of the batch, Roshni and Shwetha shared their experiences, memories and sentiments of their two year tenure as students of the institute.

Fr Amit D Souza SJ (students’ council president 2016-18) handed over the college to the newly elected students’ council president Arwin Pais SJ followed by Fr Praveen and Dr Farita Viegas, principal who gave away the college group photo as mementos to the students.

Shreya and group welcomed the gathering through their dance. Anisha and group sung a farewell song to the seniors. Arwin Pais rendered the vote of thanks. Flavia D Souza compered the programme. Sarika Rodrigues and Santhosh Furtado (staff coordinators) organized the programme.
