Bhatkal, Jan 17: Five fishermen from Uttara Kannada district who were released recently by the Iranian government after they were arrested for allegedly crossing the international border and entering Iranian territory, reached their homes on Wednesday evening. They are among 18 fishermen from the district who were freed. The others belong to Murudeshwar, Honnavar and Ankola.

Fishermen at Dubai airport on way to India

The fishermen, working for a concern in Dubai, had accidentally entered Kish island within Iran territorial waters on July 27 last year.   Two more boats were later confiscated by Iran on august 25 and September 7. A total of 28 fishermen were held.

With the constant efforts of Dubai Karnataka Forum, Indian embassy, and other organizations, the fishermen were released on January 8 after several months of captivity.

Yakub Samail from Kumta, Ajmal, Inayat, Iliyas Ambady and Khaleel Panipudu, were accorded a warm welcome here on their arrival.

The six months of an ordeal of these fisherman working in Gulf has finally come to an end despite their pleas on social media appealing Indian government while fisherman association has remained silent because the entire crew members are Muslims.
In another hand, Indian Navy searching for 'Suvarna Tribhuja' with SONAR technology. The local MP to Udupi Mutt Swamiji is in support for their safe return.
Though the ordeal of Bhatkal and Udupi fisherman is same, the tending hands of support from the government, Mutt heads and fisherman association is completely biased.
My worst fear will be using the missing fishing boat to stage an attack like 9/11 with high alerted sounded for a plot to kill the Hindu leaders of fanatic organizations ahead of Lok Sabha elections to deflect the minds of voters from the real issue and use emotion using 'nationalism' through fake attacks.
Ironically, none of the protesting party is seen welcoming these Bhatkal fishermen.
