Bengaluru: Congress asks five ministers to be ready for sacrifice

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 17: In the battle of supremacy engineered by the 'Operation Lotus' reportedly attempted by the BJP, Congress seems to have gained an upper hand. Not prepared to take things lying down, BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, has assured the legislators holed up in a resort at a Gurugram to wait for a few days before the drama could unfold in front of their eyes.

In the meanwhile, in-charge of Congress affairs in Karnataka, K C Venugopal, has sounded five ministers to be prepared for a sacrifice. The party is said to be under compulsion to appease a few disgruntled leaders. The ministers who have been asked to be in readiness to quit are rural development minister, Krishna Byre Gowda, social welfare minister, Priyank Kharge, agricultural minister, Shivashankara Reddy, and urban development and housing minister, U T Khader.

K C Venugopal

Venugopal, who left for New Delhi after he felt that the clouds of danger have blown away, told the media persons that the coalition will last its full term and that the party will hold state-wide protest against BJP's tactics on Thursday. The party also produced before the media persons its legislators, Bheema Naik from Hagaribommanahalli and Basangouda Daddal from Raichur rural constituencies, who were supposed to have been poached by the BJP to prove that none of the Congressmen have crossed to the other said.

Chief minister, Kumaraswamy, who worked in tandem with Venugopal, deputy chief minister, Parameshwara, former chief minister, Siddaramaiah and water resources minister, Shivakumar, succeeded in thwarting danger that was looming large on the government, it is said.

Congress party, which is determined to keep its MLAs together, would be convening its legislature party meeting on January 18.

In the meantime, BJP state general secretary, C T Ravi, said that BJP has nothing to do with Congress dissidents and that his party had never tried to preempt the fall of the coalition government. He said that he has suspicion about the Congress being a party to this high drama.

The defections are against the people's mandate. If the voters choose to elect a candidate by the party it must be respected regardless of the party affiliation.
The polls and reelections are not cheap in India. In 2014 Lok Sabah elections Election commission of India alone has spent more than Rs3600 crores. One assembly election cost in India is Rs10 crores alone considering the year 2014 as a base.
Imagine if all the elected MLA's who are willing to defect from one JD(S)-Congress to join BJP, they need to resign to prove the majority in the assembly. The BJP with figures of 104 still needs 10 seats to remain in power.
If one does the simple calculation Rs10 crores multiple of a number of MLA's defected or resigned, the state may open some more health care center, schools, water tanks and so on.
Do Kannadigas need a government which formed on illicit money?
Do we need government corrupt government of BJP which doesn't want to respect the people's mandate?

I request Kannadigas to stand together. We do not want another Arunchal Pradesh, Goa or Manipur to repeated.
Let's sign the petition for tough 'Anti Defection Law' which deregister the party which encourages defections and a life ban for elected MLA's and his bloodline for the lifetime.

Let's take a small step together to save India's democracy.
    Jai Hind

What a mess congress has ended up in.
To save the coalition, it will sack five ministers, some of them who have performed better than the rest.

This is the game of Mr. Siddu, until the party doesn't make as Chief minister again he will not let Kumaraswami to run the government. This is all because of your internal politics. Don't' simply blame any other party, and you know this very well. Just you want to put the blame on somebody that is the only reason that you blame BJP. Certainly if Siduu don't allow the government to run for sure BJP will try to take the advantage of the situation.
