Puttur: St Philomena aided high school celebrates Christmas

Puttur, Dec 26: “The values like love, kindness, forgiveness etc. should be inculcated by us and be a part and parcel of our personality. These cannot be imposed from outside,” said Dr Peter Wilson Prabhakar the principal of Vivekananda College, Puttur.

He was speaking as the chief guest of the Christmas celebration held at the auditorium of St Philomena Aided High School. He felt that if the spirit of compassion is imbibed by all, it will lead to the establishment of a good society. Fr Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director, who presided over the function, gave a call to the students to show respect to the teachers and to the heads of all religions. “When we love our religion, we should respect other religions too. This attitude leads to communal harmony. St. Philomena Aided High School has set an example by celebrating Deepavali, Ramzan and Christmas, thereby exhibiting respect to all the religions,” he said.



The progamme began with a meaningful prayer service which included readings from the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagavadgitha and also singing of Chrismas carols. Oswald Rodrigues, the headmaster, warmly welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr Peter Wilson Prabhakar was felicitated on behalf of the school. N K Jagannivas Rao, the president of the alumni association wished a Merry Christmas to all. Usha Kiran. the joint secretary of the PTA was present. The school pupil leader, Mohammad Shaheer proposed the vote of thanks.

Harison, a student of 10th standard compered the programme. Finally, the entry and dance of the legendary Santa Claus, who not only wished a Happy Christmas to all but also distributed sweets was an added attraction of the well organised function.
