Mangaluru: Shakthi Fest inaugurated at Shakthi residential school

Mangaluru, Dec 19: Shakthi residential school and pre university college inaugurated Shakthi fest 2018 in school grounds on December 19.

Mangaluru DCP law and order Hanumantaraya inaugurated the programme. He stressed on the need for value based education. “Parents these days insist children to secure more and more marks which cause pressure in them.

Children should be given education that provides extracurricular activities along with academics from young age. Sport increases the enthusiasm to learn new things among them. Teachers and parents should take equal responsibility in this respect. Children should be provided knowledge of society by which their future and personality blossoms,” he said.

Shakthi pre university college Principal Prabhaker G S who chaired the programme said that competitions such as these help to develop leadership qualities, feelings of unity, confidence and personality among children. “Therefore, parents should encourage children to take part in these activities.”

Gopalakrishna temple managing trustee K C Naik, trustee Saguna C Naik, Shakthi school principal Vidya Kamath, management officer Bykady Janardhan Achar, chief advisor Ramesh K and development officer Nasim Banu were present. Teacher Rajeshwari welcomed. Teacher Swathi proposed vote of thanks. Teacher Poornima gave an introduction to the programme. Teacher Akshatha compered the programme.

Children between first and fourth standard of different schools took part in English, Kannada and Hindi singing competitions, English storytelling, colouring, drawing, patriotic songs, Kannada poems, identifying noble people, Kasadinda rasa, Kolaj, group dance and other variety cultural competitions. Udupi and Dakshina Kannada school students took part.
