The leaders expressed frustration at the fact that the complaint made by them to the leader of Congress legislature party, Siddaramaiah, and other party leaders about the injustice meted out to former Congress leaders did not have the desired result. Therefore they feel that the best option before them now is to launch a campaign to save the party.

Later, an ex MLA, K N Rajanna, said that he and like-minded former MLAs from the Congress have decided to launch 'Save Congress' campaign as they feel it is their duty to build the party. Former minister, A Manju, said that Congress leaders want to see that the party wins maximum Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka and Rahul Gandhi becomes the next Prime Minister. "For this to happen, we have to save the party, unite it, and fight with vigour. We will discuss with top leaders in achieving our aim," he stated. He said that the decisions taken by them would be brought to the notice of state Congress in-charge, K C Venugopal, leader of Congress legislature party, Siddaramaiah, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Former minster, Dr H C Mahadevappa, P M Narendra Swamy, Magadi Balakrishna, Periyapatna Venkatesh, K D Lakshminarayana, Vishwanath and some others participated in the meeting.
