Mangaluru: City to get cruise restaurants at two places soon

Mangaluru, Dec 19: Dakshina Kannada District Tourism Development Committee has been given permission to start cruise restaurants at Sultan Battery and Old Port on the bank of River Phalguni. This was stated by the minister for tourism and silk, Sa Ra Mahesh.

The minister, in a written reply furnished in response to question raised by MLC, Ivan D'Souza, in the legislative council, added that the union government has released Rs 19.13 crore out of Rs 95.67 crore sanctioned under the 'Swadesh Darshan' scheme. This scheme aims at developing tourist facilities in tourist destinations located on the seashore in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi districts.

The minster also added that the central tourism ministry has given its nod for projects worth Rs 50 crore to develop facilities like connecting roads, seating facility, watch tower etc in important beaches in coastal Karnataka. Out of this, the first installment of ten crore rupees has been already released, he explained.

    Finally we have opened our eyes to develop Tourisim in Mangalore. This Port city is called " ENTRACE OF KARNATAKA". There is huge opportunity for Tourism in Mangalore, which is surrounded by Nethravati and Falguni river with EIGHT bridges connecting to the city at Kulur, Panemangalore and Ullal. If these river banks under the bridge are developed, this city will compete Singapore. Initially we have to form a "RING ROAD" with PARK around the city on the bank of these rivers. Initially Cruise Restaurants can be started under these EIGHT bridges with attractive lightings at night at these eight bridges to attract Tourists.

    Need of the hour is to build a motor-able bridge across Gurupura river from Sultan Battery to Thannirbavi, which will be very useful for locals and beach goers inside Mangaluru city.

    Mantri Sir, Priority for Mangaluru is not cruise restaurants at the moment instead completion of Pumpwell flyover, Nanthoor Circle traffic decongestion, improved roads and drainage system in the city and freeing the footpath from the encroachers all around city.

    Honestly, during my vacation time I did enjoy one or two places through my friend circle in Mangalore. What is there in hiding? May be we were in the crowd. Quality too noisy and filled with cigarette smoke. Now I cannot think of that smoke hall with 500% carbon monoxide but the surrounding was soothing. Compensated!
    Thankfully, there were no culture or moral and BD's to protest, because they too were among the audience for sure.

    Please repair the roads to sulthan battery and make it more travel friendly..even the sand bank near the river needs to be improvised...its a lot plain..more of gardens needed..aftr that the place will b a best tourism sight..

    Having lunch or dinner in a cruise restaurant gives a feeling of top of the world. It is only for tourists or the No. 2 money earners and children of rich fathers. We need not get excited, since people like you and me, who earn the money by our sweat and blood, do not have deep pockets.

    Demands are so many but Mangaluru is not like Mumbai.
    Here there are so many right wing organizations and our choices are very much restricted. Those days there were so many places in Kudla where cabaret shows used to use to be allowed.

    Nice to learn that the Government has sanctioned many crores for the development of Cruise Restaurants for the benefit of several dozens of Ocean Cruises that are visiting Mangalore port regularly.

    This is one way to also ensure that these Cruise Restaurants are of the best standards meeting the International tastes, where the Cruise tourists are very particular with their diets. The Cruise owners always caution their passengers to be very careful about their diets when they take the shore excursions. Water and food are two essential factors that the Cruise owners are very much concerned so that the cruise journeys are carried out smoothly without any kind of interruptions.
