Mangaluru: Christmas season celebrated at Makale, Shakthinagar

Mangaluru, Dec 17: St Rita ward of Kulshekar church, Mandd Sobhan and Triveni Ayurveda jointly held ‘Christmas Sambhrama’ at Makale on December 16.

Mangaluru corporation former mayor Abdul Azeez on lighting the Christmas tree lights said that joint celebrations by different religions such as this are necessary these days. “The programmes help to strengthen communal harmony.”

Mandd Sobhan Gurkar Eric Ozario set in motion the distribution of Kuswar. He then said that Jesus strived for the poor and those deprived of justice. “We should try to inculcate the real message of Christmas in our lives.”

Local linesman Naresh, postman Yathish, telephone company worker Kunhikanna, Beat policeman Madan, Antony waste staff Bhooshan and the most senior person Hilda Castelino were felicitated on the occasion.



Mandd Sobhan president Luvi J Pinto, Triveni Ayurveda’s Dr Eldo were present.

Sumesh troupe sang Christmas carols, Kalakul troupe performed Amchen Natal skit, Nach Sobhan and young children performed dances. Aikya Kerala Kalari Sangha performed Thaiyam. Kalariyapattu and Swaroop research center students showcased their talents.

Ward gurkar Winnie D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Roy Castelino delivered an introduction. Sunil Monteiro proposed the vote of thanks. Victor Mathias compered the programme.
