Mercury dips in Jharkhand due to rains


Ranchi, Dec 17 (IANS): Jharkhand witnessed cold weather on Monday due to incessant rains in the state, a weather official said here.

"Jharkhand is receiving moderate to heavy rainfall due to a cyclone which will hit the Andhra Pradesh coast on Monday afternoon," R.S. Sharma, Ranchi meteorological scientist told IANS.

"After it makes landfall, the cyclone will move north and later towards the northeast. Rains will continue in Jharkhand until Tuesday. From Wednesday, the weather will be clear but the cold will intensify."

From Wednesday, the night temperatures will decline upto three degree, Sharma added.
