Mangaluru: Gallerie Orchid holds Christmas charity art exhibition

Mangaluru Dec 16: Gallerie Orchid organized Christmas charity art exhibition at Hotel Taj Gateway in the city on Sunday, December 16.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA J R Lobo said, "This event is very unique and there are two parts in this programme. One is art and culture and the other is the cause for which this is being held. This is organized on a special occasion and it is the season of Christmas. The message of Lord Jesus should be given to everyone on this occasion."

Instrumental music was performed by Oscar, Jerome, Roshan and Dolvin. A special Didgeridoo performance was presented by Brandon Colaco during the occasion.



The current Christmas charity art exhibition and sale is aimed at assisting the activities of 'Jeevadhan', an organization which helps in rehabilitation of the HIV-affected women and children. The center takes care of those who are often abandoned by their own and attends to them with love and care. In the center they are transformed into positive individuals as the sisters at ‘Jeevadhan’ offer them the ray of hope to look life from a positive angle. The part of the proceeds raised through the exhibition will be given to better the facilities at the center.

Featured in this exhibition is a mix of collections of well-known artists and those who are on the path of attaining fame like Shantharam Hattarki, Philip D'Mello, Devi Prasad Rao, Ramesh Pachpande, Ramesh Rao, Ramagiri  Poice Patil, Jeevan A S, Wilson D'Souza and Kandan G.

Gallerie Orchid is a premier art gallery dealing in arts in the city. For the last eleven years it has steadfastly promoted art and artists and gave a launching pad to around 50 artists, who had their first solo exhibition under its banner. The gallery has logged 65 exhibitions in India and abroad. Through this exhibition many up and coming names in the art world became known and some of them found a place of pride on walls of so many homes. The growth in the art world takes time and Gallerie Orchid has persevered to stay afloat and continues to be center for creative meeting the commercial.

Director of Gallerie Orchid, William Pais, superior Jeevadhan, Sr Jancy, CREDAI president, Dr D B Mehta, former president of KCCI Jeevan Saldanha and others were present.
