Mumbai: Popular dramatist Mohan Marnad selected for Karnataka Nataka Academy award

Mumbai, Dec 15: Veteran drama artiste, director and storywriter of Mumbai, Mohan Marnad has been selected for Karnataka Nataka Academy for the year 2018.

The award was announced in Bengaluru. Senior drama artiste P Gangadhar Swamy has bagged life time honour. Twenty five artistes who have served in dramas are selected for the awards. Udupi based T Prabhaker Kalyani and Dakshina Kannada resident Usha Bhandary are prominent among them. They will be presented Rs 25 thousand each, a certificate, medals and memento.

Sponsored awards are announced to Hassan’s Nicolas, Shivamogga’s Mrathyunjaya Hirematt, Dharwad’s M S Malawada and Ramanagara’s N L Nagaraj. Cash and certificates will be presented to the awardees said Karnataka Nataka Academny president J Lokesh.



Mohan Marnad was born in Moodunarnad, Moodbidri on February 21, 1964. He was known in solo acting since childhood. He passed his sixth standard in 1977, came to Mumbai, worked in canteens and hotels, joined free night school in VT Bazar gate, Kannada Junior College and secured BCom degree from Siddharth College. He received prizes and awards since school and college days for acting.

He has acted and directed several dramas and written stories. He has been honored by several organizations for his work over the years.

He is residing at Bandra, Mumbai with wife Seema Mohan and daughter Manavi Marnad for the last several years.
