Air India late-night domestic flights to start soon - Tickets from Rs 1,000

New Delhi, Nov 14 (Mint) : Offering flight tickets at a cheaper price, Air India is introducing night departure flights to some popular destinations, including Delhi, Goa and Bengaluru with fares beginning from Rs 1,000. The night departure flights, also known as red-eye flights because of their timings, depart late at night and arrive before dawn.

The fare for the Delhi-Goa and Goa-Delhi flight begins from Rs 3,000. The Delhi flight departs at 10 pm and arrives in Goa at 12.35 am. The Goa-Delhi flight, on the other hand, departs at 1.15 am and arrives in Delhi at 3.40 am.

Air India flight tickets on the Bengaluru-Ahmedabad route begin from Rs 1,000. The Bengaluru flight departs at 12.30 am and reaches Ahmedabad at 2.35 am while the return flight departs from Ahmedabad at 3.05 am and reaches its destination at 5.25 am.

The Delhi-Coimbatore flight, with fares beginning from Rs 2,500, flies at 9.15 pm and reaches at 12.30 am. From Coimbatore, the Air India flight departs at 1 am and reaches Delhi at 4 am.

Air India said these late night flights would operate on a daily basis from November 30. With cheap fares, such red-eye flights help travellers not only beat peak hour city traffic but also save on hotel charges.

Ahead of the winter holidays, several other airlines have also launched special fares and discounted tickets. Budget carrier GoAir is offering 13 lakh seats on sale with all-inclusive fares beginning from Rs 1,313. GoAir’s sale will end on 18 November.

AirAsia, on the other hand, is offering domestic flight tickets from Rs 399 and international tickets from Rs 1,999 in a new promotional offer for its loyalty programme members.

If Air India schedule an evening or night flight from Mumbai to Mangalore, many passengers from Riyadh will benefit. Now there is no connecting flight by Air India.

I hope AI will do the same for Gulf bound passengers too, as this route is over priced.

By the way, maiden flight tickets to Kannur Int'l airport sold out within one hour of launching fares.....!!!!

There will be international players in Kannur, who will give run for the money for Indian Airlines, which will benefit passengers from Gulf / other regions too.

The airport will have 32 immigration counters, 24 check-in counters as well as self-baggage drop counters and self-checking machines, which is equally beneficial for ML, Kodagu, Mysore passengers as well.

    Jai Hind!!!

Air India service has improved by leaps and bounds. Their on time performance too has improved quite a lot. May be, their staff have realised that they need to pull up their socks and perform better if they have to keep their jobs.

Due to bad condition of roads, this is a better option. Airline may not make profit due to low fairs, certainly a boon to common man to save time and money.

    Actually excellent leg space
Transparent pricing no extra cost after being shown online
Minimum cut after cancellation makes Air India as the best airlines
But private airlines have been confusing customers and taking say business
Now with this lesser price I am sure Air India will come out f the loss
    All the best Air India

I think one of the Central Government ministers started the flashlight business/flashlight manufacturing company.
Most of Indian roads no street lights.

    I pity your ignorance
There is no flash light involved here
They are called Red light Flights only because they fly night and reach morning

Flights fly late at night (after mid-night) are called as RED-EYE flights. Most of the passengers prefer such flights.
