Rahul slams Modi over demonetisation, calls him a 'thief'

New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS): Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comment that demonetisation led to crackdown on shell firms, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said it takes a "thief to know a thief".

Gandhi's remarks came after Modi targeted the Congress for criticising demonetisation, saying the move had let to closure of over three lakh shell companies.

Rahul took to Twitter saying the only shell companies identified after "the great demonetisation tragedy" belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah's son Jay Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Reliance Group chairperson Anil Ambani.

"Ironically, the only 'shell' firms identified after the great demonetisation tragedy are: Jay Shah's Temple Enterprises, Piyush Goyal's Flashnet and Anil Ambani's Reliance Airports," Gandhi said in a tweet.

"It takes a thief to know a thief," he added.

The government is facing heavy criticism from the opposition parties for its demonetisation decision which completed two years last week.

Never ending verbal (tweets) fight & words of tongue, but Rahul cannot win because his tongue power is meek comparing to Modi's. He can make believe anything, any one at any given time. (Modi jaise doosra kohi nanheeee..........)

After hearing Rahul's speeches I have no doubt left in my mind that he is Modi's greatest ally in the opposition. His speeches sound like repeat-rewind of the same thing hoping that something will stick into minds of the audience. He keeps telling the audience 'Modi is thief' rather daring to ask the audience 'Tell me, who is the thief?' He may get an answer he does not want to hear. When Modi asks people, which he is likely to do during his election campaign, "Tell me, who is the thief?", I can very well guess what public is going to say. We have seen it and Congress has not learnt its lessons. There is not a single positive thing I have seen from Rahul about the future of our country - jobs, poverty, healthcare, agriculture, growth. He cannot aspire to be leader of this country without a game plan to win hearts of the masses and just sticking to Modi bashing. The problem I see is his advisors are clueless and he himself has limited intellect.

To win the 'hearts of the masses' in our country one has to lie through his teeth which is what was done by the current ruling party in 2014 and admitted later by party president as Jumla and recently by Gadkari. Unfortunately Rahul hasn't mastered that art and even if he does, let's not forget, the rulers hold all the 4 aces up their sleeve in the form of EVM.

If Rahul sticks to Modi bashing he may get support of people who were disillusioned by promises made by Modi in 2014, but not of those people who still believe Modi is credible and hard working for the betterment of this country.

Rahul is perhaps realized that without tarnishing personal image of Modi, there is way for the Congress to come back in. The flip side of this approach is he has nothing to offer to aspirational voter base of 18-25. It will be delusional to think Modi came to power through lies and so we will also use the same formula.

Nearly 5 lakh companies are deregistered. Nearly 50 % is directors have not filed Ekyc that has been compulsory this year. Looks like there are many fake directors. Many Companies are formed with the only intention of money laundering. Companies are deregistered based on act and rules and not based on which political party they belong to.
