Don’t live in India if you love batsmen from other countries: Virat Kohli responds to fan

New Delhi, Nov 7 (NIE): Virat Kohli has embroiled himself in fresh controversy after video footage on social media showed the Indian captain saying that “those who prefer English and Australian batsmen should not live in India.” Kohli was reading out mean messages addressed to him by fans and responding to them.

In the video available on his newly released app, Kohli reads out tweets and Instagram messages offering his opinions on them. He then gets to a comment by a user who says Kohli is an overrated batsman. The user says that it’s preferable to watch Australian and English batsmen. “Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians,” Kohli reads.

Kohli, in turn, took a dig at the user and said, “Okay, I don’t think you should live in India then… you should go and live somewhere else, no? Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right.”

Kohli’s approach to the question has not gone well with social media users and the 30-year-old has faced flak from various quarters. Some even went on to remind Kohli of his statement during the U19 Cricket World Cup in 2008, wherein he said that his favourite cricketer was former South African opener Herschelle Gibbs.

In the recently-concluded ODI series against West Indies, Kohli also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record to become the fastest to scale the 10,000 runs milestone in the 50-over format of the game.

This Kohli THUG has some nerve to tell Fellow Indians leave India as if he OWNES India and all its
    tapings!

I wonder where and why he thinks he can abuse Indian citizens. We have every right to like/love cricketers from other countries.

He will help himself by concentrating on his game and work hard to receive praise from Indian fans
    and fans abroad.

This childish, silly and stupid RANT has no place NOR REASON -Fans love India just as much, if not more than Kohli does. I say JUST FOCUS ON CRICKET!!!!!!!!!!

    Virat,

Learn to accept the negative comments also like to accept the positive. appreciation and support is not one sided.. though your performance was very bad in some of IPL seasons and have not won a single IPL trophy for Karnataka in 11 years, still we support RC for all these years only because of ABD.. will still continue to do so. this is the sportsmanship spirit.... try playing this year only with Indian players...will see how many people will support RC.. India is not owned by you to tell someone to leave the country... so I think you better limit your comments only for sports..

Many world class cricketers have come and gone, it is just matter of time and luck. Great cricketers like Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid, Lara, Sobers, were very delightful to watch playing and never over reacted any time of their playing. This fellow shows most ugliest face and reaction when he takes a catch or an opponent gets out. Disaster to watch him as a captain. And now a days his duplicate one more added in the team that is Yajuvendra Chahal, horrible looking who is by chance in Indian team from no where when there are more talented bowlers are in India who could not make it their place in playing eleven. Even Mike Tyson was far better when he defeated his opponent in Boxing than these ball hitting men.

Virat Kohli is back in the news.

No no, he hasn't been shooting video clips of litterbugs to shame them on social media with Anushka...... He is doing something better..... Telling people to leave India.

Apparently Kohli saw a comment of one of the cricket fans who compared him with other batsmen and concluded that he did not like Kohli much but preferred the Australian batsmen better.

In response Kohli told the fan that, "If he doesn't like Indian batsmen then he should leave India and go elsewhere"

    Amazing logic from Kohli right??

So basically if you like Rafael Nadal more than Mahesh Bhupati you should leave India and go to Spain.

If you like Christiano Ronaldo more than Bhaichang Bhutia you should go and live in Portugal.

And perhaps, if you don't like Statue of Unity but like Statue of Liberty, you should go and live in NYC.

But if you want to live in India, you have to like Indian Sportsmen and other Indian stuff more than the Phoren stuff.

Maybe Ramdev Baba can now pick up Kohli as the brand ambassador for his newly launched Patanjali Jeans 😛

It's not a wonder that Kohli likes Khakhi Chaddi more than Jockey VBriefs.

Though I wonder why Virat Kohli himself owns a garage full of Audis instead of Tata cars? Does he himself, secretly wants to go to Germany instead of staying in India?

Disclaimer: Kohli getting married to Anushka in Italy should not be misconstrued as him liking Sonia Gandhi more than Modi 😉

In the same line you should also stop going to foriegn countries and compete with them, using foriegn products and copying foriegn way of life and more importantly taking in foriegn language. The Cricketer Virat Kohli married in a foreign country. Supports foreign countries in other sports. Plays a sport originating from a foreign country instead of playing kabaddi. Talks in a foreign language many times. Wears foreign dresses. Is he in his right mind speaking those words now?

Kohli’s words sounded like constant threats issued by BJP leaders to Muslims other critics of the Narendra Modi government in India to go to Pakistan.

The cricketer must have forgotten his own words out how he had described South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs and not Sachin Tendulkar when he was asked to name his favorite player very early in his career.

If his fan loves some other cricketer for his style or talent it should be his business. By saying this Virat Kohli lacks 'Sportsman's spirit'. He should either tender an apology or quit cricket.
