Loan burden - progressive farmer from Kadaba ends life

Daijiworld Media Network - Kadaba (SP)

Kadaba, Oct 11: Kushalappa Gowda (53), son of the late Somappa Gowda from Kolya in the taluk committed suicide on Wednesday October 10 at his home. He was a progressive farmer but reportedly was overburdened with debt.

Kushalappa had raised loans for undertaking agricultural development activities in his land from different sources. As he could not repay the loan on time on account of poor yield, he was struggling to stay afloat, family sources stated.

On Wednesday, his family members had left to attend an engagement ceremony organized in the house of a relative at Subramanya, when Kushalappa hanged himself from the roof beam of the shed attached to his house.

Gowda has left behind wife and four daughters. On the basis of report filed by Balakrishna, brother of the deceased, Kadaba police visited the spot, conducted inquest, registered a case and took up investigation.

Its not only loan, why should one have four children? The country is already realing under excess population. Right time govt bring population control laws.
One couple only 2 children. No reservations, no govt subsidies or aid if they have more than 2 children.

Don't blindly blame the government. I have known farmers who have taken loans are happy for 'Manna' has taken effect.

There got to some other problem about this farmer, not just loan.
