Mangaluru, Oct 8: Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor on Tuesday, October 9 alleged district-in-charge minister U T Khader of misusing his power over construction of slaughterhouse.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, October 8, Sanjeev Matandoor said, “Mangaluru was selected for smart city and several development works is taking place under smart city project. The Smart City Board has been formed but few days ago advisory committee was formed. District-in-charge minister U T Khader claims to be constructing slaughterhouse in Kudroli worth Rs 15 crore to enhance food hygiene and maintain the cleanliness in the city. But by this move, minister U T Khader is appeasing one section of the community and trying to loot money.”

“In the name of smart city, this recommendation was kept without taking the decision of local MP’s, MLA’s and stakeholders. U T Khader has misused the power to appease one section of the community,” he lashed out.

One of the directors of Smart City Board Premananda Shetty said, “District in-charge minister U T Khader submitted a letter to MCC Commissioner on August 16, to include four projects under smart city project. Later it was passed on to the chairman of Smart City Board Ponnuraj through Commissioner. As per the procedure, the recommendation should have been given to the Mayor and project must be approved in the Corporation Council and then has to be placed before the board for its approval. But U T Khader submitted letter directly to the commissioner and brought these projects to board meeting without getting approval from corporation council.”

“In the draft minutes, it was clearly mentioned that it has to be approved in Corporation Council and then placed before the board for its approval. But in the final proceedings, it was mentioned that four projects were included in the list of smart city projects. How the projects can be included without any approval from Corporation Council?” he questioned.

Sanjeev Matandoor walks off from his own press meet

Sanjeev Matandoor had invited the media for a press conference over controversial construction of slaughterhouse. Soon after the press conference, media questioned MLA over the issue and asked to give proper justification over the slaughterhouse row. But Sanjeev Matandoor could not answer the questions and decided to walk away from the press conference. When media questioned on how he can walk away from his own press meet, he refused to answer, pushing the responsibility to Premananda Shetty to answer media queries.

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty and others were present.

My request to all BJP leaders- stop dragging minority tags in each & every issues concerning development projects.
Do you want all the non vegan voters either to eat unhygienic meat or want only vegan voters to vote for BJP?
It is the right of every citizen to have clean & hygienic food in the city from slaughter houses to final food chain like hotels & bakeries. Nobody has the right to prevent the consumers of meat products to buy healthy food prepared in healthy & clean environment.
Either Change for the better or get booted out in next election is their only option.

Foreign countries will ban importing beef from India, if the slaughter houses are not hygienic . Since the most beef exporter in India are the Majority community, I don't see any logic in Matandoor getting upset as he is being a member of majority community. It is a known fact that Indian beef is low quality beef. Selling Indian beef as organic beef in western market is questionable. An awareness is needed to alert FDA to ban beef from India for various reasons.

Article 21 of the constitution, entitled Protection of life and personal liberty, says, in its entirety, No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.

If BJP can appease their 'crony capitalist' with export licences to supply 'beef' worth $5 billion , who in turn provide the party coffers with funds is not consider majority appeasement.

BJP MLA Sanjeev Matandoor will be happy if the Slaughter house ownership will be transferred to his party that will be run under disguise of Bajrang Dal with threat.

Under Article 47 it is the duty of the State to raise the level of nutrition and the standard of living and to improve public health. The attitude of the Matandoor is the violation of the constitution of India and civil liberty.

The objection raised by the BJP MLA shows that party is not interested in development of the city. If their is religious compulsion with 'slaughter house', then MLA should write open letter to Prime Minister of India to shut 'Beef' exports from India within 48 hours.

If not he should resign from the party and take voluntary retirement to serve India.

Nothing but purely a publicity stunt and self promotion event in view of the fast approaching elections. Nobody cares about bad roads, lack of parking, miserable state of drainage system, shortage of drinking water, rampant corruption and the list is endless. Politicians blow non issues out of proportion to malign the opposition (in this case the ruling party) They are more interested in changing names of roads and towns than completing the pump well flyover or filling up deep trenches/potholes on major roads. Now everybody will discuss on who is Matandoor and he will become famous overnight. Extremely sad state of affairs.

SANJEEV MATANDOOR walks out from the press meet ,when asked question related to slaughter house. This is the most funniest thing to happen walking out of one's own press meet. They have no idea about the project, basically wanted to make an issue out of nothing.ultimately he looked like a fool by walking out.

Really good development by Khader towards Smart City project those who can avail the benefit without compulsion. Much better than killing innocent people, raping and murdering young girls and women of all religion, snatching people from thier food choices. Exactly opposite of your liking 'Gujrat Model of Development'. Karnataka is developing in the right direction with speed despite having destructive floods and no aid from the centre whereas BJP ruled states are getting enormous amount of developmental feuds but no development only Gujrat model development.

Under the guidelines of Smart City Slaughter House is included by the Central Government not by Khader and as per the guidelines the private consultants who are appointed by the Central Government has suggested the allotment.

BJP is ruling the Central Government, Central Government have made the guidelines, Central Government has appointed the consultants, Consultants have made the assessment of 15 crores......
