Mangaluru: Forum Fiza Mall’s ‘Purple Run’ raises awareness on Alzheimer’s disease

Mangaluru Sep 30: To create awareness on Alzheimer's disease, people of various age groups took part in ‘Purple Run’ on Sunday, September 30. The unique initiative was organised by Forum Fiza Mall.

Forum Fiza Mall, Mangaluru, centre manager, Fayaz M H flagged off the Purple Run. Every participant is free to choose the running distance according to one’s comfort zone such as 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and the half marathon distance of 21 km. The marathon began at Forum Fiza Mall and culminated at the same venue.

The Purple Run is a unique initiative by Forum to raise awareness on Alzheimer’s. More than 30,000 people will be running simultaneously across 8 forum malls in different cities namely Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Udaipur for this cause.

Speaking to daijiworld, Fayaz M H said, “Close to 3,000 people in Mangaluru have supported the cause. There are many elderly suffering from Alzheimer’s and many of them are not aware about this disease. It is important that we spread awareness so that one can take utmost care of the elderly. Many sponsors have come forward to support this cause.”

The total prize money offered was Rs 2.75 lac in the half marathon and 10km for male and female category winners. The 3km and 5km run winners will receive gift hampers.
