Udupi: Yellur GP gets CSR grant commitment of Rs 1.45 crore from Adani UPCL

Udupi, Sep 26: Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) handed over the CSR grant confirmation letter of Rs 1.45 crore to the Yellur gram panchayat for the financial year 2018-19 on September 25.

Kishore Alva, joint president of Adani UPCL handed over the letter confirming to execute development works worth Rs 1.45 crore in Yellur gram panchayat for the year 2018-19 based on the Kriya Yojana (Action Plan) letter, which would be submitted by Panchayat. The letter was handed over in the stage programme organized in the premises of Yellur gram panchayat.

Later Alva spoke and informed that Adani UPCL has earmarked a special CSR Grant of Rs 22.73 crores totally for 7 gram panchayats for a total period of three years and from that package, it is executing development works as contained in the Kriya Yojana of panchayat. Under that grant, Yellur panchayat has been committed developmental works worth Rs 3.75 crore over a period of 3 years effective financial year 2016-17.

Alva informed that against the declared CSR Grant of Rs 3.75 crore to Yelluru gram panchayat, Adani UPCL has so far taken-up and completed 10 development works as per the Kriya Yojana list of panchayat at a cost of Rs 1.88 crores. The completed works include concreting of 500 metres length Paniyuru-Durganagar road, 2500 metres Yellur-Kemmendalu road development, development of 880 metres length Kenja-Mudarangadi road, concreting of 250 metres length Veerabhadra road, concreting of 350 metres Kanchugara Keri road, concreting of 400 metres Kunjuru Temple road, concreting of 790 metres Kenja-Maniyoor road, development of 256 metres length Bellibettu-Aalade road, electrification of Mudarangadi road, electrification of road from Admar to Kunjuru Sri Durga Temple.

Alva further told that 4 development works at a cost of Rs 41.50 lac are in pipe-line and the contract has been finalized for the execution. These include development of road from Admar to Odiperaguttu, development of road from Mudarangadi Mainroad to Admar SC/ST colony, development of road in Paniyuru and development of Kenja-Mudarangadi road. He requested Yellur GP president and members to expedite handing over the Kriya Yojana, list of activities for taking-up for execution for the year 2018-19.

Accepting the CSR grant confirmation letter for the year 2018-19 from Adani, Vasanti Madhwaraj, President of Yellur gram panchayat, acknowledged the social development works of UPCL and thanked on behalf of panchayat members and residents. She informed that till date no corporates have taken-up village development works in a massive way and Adani’s contribution for the society under its CSR are highly remarkable.

Panchayat member Satish Shetty Guddecchi convened the stage programme. Mamata Shetty, PDO, Chandrashekar, panchayat secretary, Shilpa G. Suvarna, zilla panchayat member, Keshava Moily, taluk panchayat member, Sadashiva Shetty, Raviraj Rao, Vimala Devadiga, Rajendra, Poornima Prasad, Raheem, Leela Devadiga, Mohan Acharya, Vasanti, Vani, Pushpa Shetty, members of panchayat, UPCL company’s AGM Girish Navada, senior manager Ravi R Jere, Adani Foundation team members Vineet Anchan, Sukesh Suvarna, Andeep Poojary and Yelluru residents were present on the occasion.
