Nitin Sandesara, man behind Rs 5,000 crore bank fraud, may have fled to Nigeria

New Delhi, Sep 24 (Zee News): Nitin Sandesara, an absconding director of a Gujarat-based pharma company which is being probed in a Rs 5,000 crore fraud case, may have fled to Nigeria, as per media reports.

It was earlier reported that Sandesara, wanted by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), was detained in Dubai. However, a Times of India reported on Monday said that Sandesara, along with his family is hiding in Nigeria. The paper, quoting sources said that reports of him being detained in UAE was a misinformation.

CBI has booked Vadodara-based Sterling Biotech, its directors Chetan Jayantilal Sandesara, Dipti Chetan Sandesara, Rajbhushan Omprakash Dixit, Nitin Jayantilal Sandesara and Vilas Joshi, chartered accountant Hemant Hathi, former director Andhra Bank Anup Garg and some unidentified persons in connection with the alleged bank fraud case.

It is alleged that the company took loans of over Rs 5,000 crore from a consortium led by Andhra Bank which had turned into non-performing assets. As per the FIR, the total pending dues of the group of companies were Rs 5,383 crore as on December 31, 2016. The ED has taken the FIR into cognisance.

So far, the ED has arrested few people in this case including Delhi-based businessman Gagan Dhawan, former Andhra Bank director Anup Garg and Sterling Biotech Ltd director Rajbhhushan Dixit.

Multiple prosecution complaints or charge sheets have also been filed by it before a special court. It had also attached assets worth over Rs 4,700 crore of the pharmaceutical firm in June this year.

RBI should conduct a "Stress test" for all the banks. Skeletons are coming out one by one. Indian banking system was proved as one of the strongest and best systems during the world economic crisis in 2008. Bank officials are giving hard time to ordinary people while withdrawing their own money. Whereas, thousands of crores are disappearing through favorable (irresponsible) loans and bank guarantees. One set of rules for ordinary poor depositors and another set of rules for rich businessmen.

Our banking system itself not accurate. Otherwise how bank can release such a big loan.

Iam sure No ending for Lending practices.after all hard earned money flows in to banking sector from public.

Bring them back and keep behind the bar and again provide tax payer money to feed them 3times a day as well.

I appreciate earlier governor raghuraman knowledge in economy but same time enlighting his failures as well to implement strict regularity system in banking sector.

Loopholes in system allowed several banks to release the high value money without counter check and authorised check point approvals a's well missing in the earlier banking system.

At this rate before the general election the US Dollar would touch Rs.100. Very sad situation and we all know how the markets have fallen in the last two trading days. Dear Dylan,

" I have no hopes for our current PM to win the next election with a majority or even form the Govt."
Why one has to vote him to be the next PM who proved himself that he is the PM of Gujarat, help Gujarati's to escape from the country with tax payers money, support Gujarathi's to hold all main position on all top institutions in the country including BJP pary position.

One fine day he may say you are elected me. I had only experience in tea business and not in the administration of the country. We Indians have to pay the price for our mistake.

Request all citizens of the country to vote wisely to a candidate who is qualified, non corrupt, public servant and can serve the constituency without looking at any party or PM candidate in the next 2019 general election.

Rathan, but why most of them r from Gujrat? Just Google & check one company called Plethico Pharmaceauticals Ltd. This company's Chairman is one Mr. Patel from Gujrat. This Company has become bankrupt. Many including me have invested in their FD scheme. He & his sons were enjoying with BMW cars which have been confiscated. His two Posh flates in Santacruz Mumbai have been auctioned last week. But thousands of us r still struggling to receive our FD amounting to Crore of Rupees which were matured long ago!

Final plan is BJP top brass along with Modi and Amit Shah will loot thoroughly all the money, abscond and take refuge in foriegn land joining the elite club of Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Chowski, Vijaya Mallya and Nitin Sandesara. India will be bankrupt, weak and vulnerable to invasion by Pakistan and China. Blind Bhakths as usual will ally with the invading forces.
