I heard many stories like this, many people go to ship, gulf countries to make their living , save their many making big Bunglows,Apartment, Other property, Car, Higher Education for their kids ,good life style to their spouse, Ultimately they end up with this fate, this is reward they get from their own people. Most of them drink and end up very fast, later news going to be ..he was drinking, not a single person is try to find why he was drinking excessively all sudden once they leave gulf / ship??. This is reward they get from loved ones.Very Sad.

Yes.. Very true.. Preaching is easy and blaming the house people much more easIer.
You can't clap in one hand..if there's something, suicide is not ultimate solution. There are Variety of measures to solve the problem if the concerned person is correct and straight forward.
Unnecessary doubts and comments are objectionable.

I totally agree with your views. Man sacrifices all his life saving leaving family and when he come back, some unlucky will go through hell of life from his own family specially from wife and grown up kids.

Mistake to a certain extent lies with the male member of the family. When he is working in the Gulf or in the Ship, while coming home, there is welcome and feel good environment. But when he retires he will feel unwanted.

Men should keep at least 50% of their savings in their name itself. Secondly one should prepare himself at least few years in advance, how to spend his /her retirement life and what are the hindrance one will face.

Feel sad for the family. What is the reason for suicide. Man looks very decent and simple. Proper investigation should be done to know suicide or murder.

You and your parkat one-line comments.

Do you even have one single logical explanation as to why an ex-captain of the ship should not have suicidal thoughts.

In most occasions, suicide is a state of deteriorated mental condition that requires professional help from psychiatrists. And in several other occasions, a person’s family life, financial condition, health conditions, etc contribute to that final state of mind. A ship’s captain is not immune to any of these suicidal conditions.

There is nothing in this news article to suggest any foul play. So, unless you have a very concrete evidence to the contrary, please SHUT UP, and let his family grieve his death in peace.

Fyi, didn’t Himanshu Roy from Mumbai police commit suicide earlier this year? Do you think he was a coward or did someone murder him?

A Captain is a very dedicated person. In case of emergency Captain himself will lead the rescue team to ensure all personnel on board are evacuated safely & he will the last person to leave the Ship
That is why I say Captain of a Ship will never commit Suicide ...

whatever you comment has no logic... you just comment for the sake of showing your presence here... whoever he is a captain of ship, a army man, or whatever.. even they will have feelings and they are humans.... he might have had personal problems... who knows his family might have neglected him or his feelings after retiring...

Mr. Malcolm Lewis - God Bless his soul. May God give the family courage to go through this difficult time.
With speculations making the rounds can you imagine how much the family is made to suffer.
I know Malcolm personally, and I can say this is not a case of suicide, but a murder and the Police must seriously look into this case.

I pray for the family and all his loved ones.

So lovely to see so many comments favouring an investigation. I knew Oliver since I was a child. He's a relative of mine. He was very kind. If suicide, I would wish they would investigate who abbeted the suicide and if murder, then a proper murder investigation.
    May he rest in peace.

Clear cut investigation should be done. Doesn’t sounds like suicide!! It is a murder I believe.. no one stabs self until intestine comes out.
It is true that if someone lives abroad for a long time. And after retire all of a sudden settle down some people not all they don’t like bcoz the father starts to control the house and this will be hated by children and wife for losing their freedom!!
It is better to live alone after retirement or spend most of the time in prayers meditations retreats etc, rather than in women’s company. Women will never allow u to spend rest of ur time peacefully

Out of sight, out of mind !! basic law of relationship isn't it?
Man is to be blamed here too, when he comes down after retirement he must indulge in rebuilding relationships and should never flex his muscles. Never irritate your family by ranting how you sacrificed your life for them or indulge in excessive boozing.
When abroad take care of yourself, don't come down with multiple diseases with your sedentary lifestyle.
To be a real man ,you must respect your grown up children and be polite to your stubborn wife.

So sad that he committed sucide after being a Ship Captain who is capable to fight all problems he come across over Sea....and even in Life.... Their training is also very tough and very strange that why he stabbed himself ( ? ).... This is a very rare incident that a person stabbing himself..... Might be a PROBLEM WITH MONEY OR PROPERTY.... Police should interrogate both his wife and sister and only three people were present at the crime spot.... Might be a case like BHASKAR Shetty... might be planned and murdered by somebody....

This might be purely due to family issue or health problem. When a man reaches certain age, he feels, he has been sidelined by his own family, specially wife and grown up children. If this continues to unbearable height and mind cannot take it any more, then, there are very few options left either end life or leave the place & move to other partner.

Might be health problem, unbearable physical pain. Instead of suffering for prolonged illness, he had ended up. But I suspect, if it is suicide, then, due to family issues.

Let his soul rest in peace.
