Abu Dhabi: Konkani drama ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ leaves audience in splits

Abu Dhabi, Sep 24: Konkani community in Abu Dhabi experienced fun time through the Sangon Mugdhana Kalakar’s latest drama, ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ on Thursday, September 20. The play presented by Royal Institute of Music & Arts (Abu Dhabi) and organized by Broadway Events & Productions (Abu Dhabi) at the British School Auditorium was a houseful show enjoyed to the core by every person in the audience.

The evening began with a welcome note by the compere, Rupert Vaz who welcomed the audience and the opening prayer was conducted by Fr Wilson Rumao of St Paul’s Church, Mussafah. The song ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ was performed in English and Konkani by the teachers of the Royal Institute of Music & Arts and Deena Lobo, a prominent singer of St Joseph’s English Choir, Abu Dhabi.

 



The story revolves around a bus stop and surroundings in a rural area of Mangaluru. The characters that come in the drama are common people. The bus stop has become part of their day life and a centre to share their feelings. Daily happenings around the bus stop are depicted in very funny way. The drama is a blend of family and love story, comedy and suspense. The script takes interesting turns when nearing the climax and makes the audience to anticipate alternate endings.

All the actors lead by ‘Comedy Prince’ Pradeep Barboza Paladka, Alphonse D’Souza Moodubelle, Godwin Castelino Attur, Royston Kiran D’Souza Balkunje, Paul D’Souza Paladka, Vernon D'Souza, Laveena Fernandes Pangala, Helvin Barboza Kulur, Venicia Rodrigues Alangar and Nanu Marol Thottam received tremendous response from the audience.

The drama ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ by ‘Saangon Mugdana Kalakar’ under the leadership of ‘Haasy Raay Kunvar’ Pradeep Barboza Paladka which created laughter riot in the auditorium was the fourth show after Dubai, Udupi and Kinnigoli. The notable point of this drama was all the four shows witnessed jam packed audience. The drama is a great and commendable effort to bring back Konkani drama lovers to watch Konkani dramas by Pradeep Baroza and his Sangon Mugdhana Kalakar Team. The Konkani drama lovers of Abu Dhabi got an opportunity to witness the comedy drama which received claps and whistles at each and every scene.

All members of Sangon Mugdana Kalakar team were felicitated before the final scene of the drama with mementos by Fr Rodson Gomes and Fr Wilson.
