Bengaluru: Custodial death of accused - case goes to CID

Bengaluru, Sep 22: The case in which an accused fell from the second floor of Amruthahalli police station in the city has been transferred to criminal investigation department for investigation.

A decision to transfer the case was taken as this is treated as a case of custodial death.

An accused, identified as Sathish alias Sketch Manju had fallen from the second floor of Amruthahalli police station building and died on Thursday September 20. He was accused of being involved with several cases of thefts and other crimes within the limits of several police stations. Amruthahalli police, who had arrested him, claimed that he was being led to the second floor of the station for questioning when he suddenly jumped from the building in an effort to escape from the police. Sathish was seriously injured in the incident and was admitted into a hospital by the police. However he died later without responding to treatments.
