Puttur: Precautionary measure - police remove flags of different communities

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Sep 22: The police, on Friday September 21, removed flags pertaining to Hindu and Muslim communities which were hung separately at Bannur here.

On Friday, it was seen that green flags had been tied to a tree at Bannur Junction. Nearby, saffron flags which had been hung from the same tree pertaining to Krishnastami celebrations pre-existed.

Some locals, expressing apprehension that this might give rise to tensions, conveyed their feelings to the police. The Krishnastami flags should have been removed after the programme, but they were left as they were. Perhaps irked by the fact that these flags were not removed, some Muslims had tied green flags to the same tree.

To ensure that this does not give rise to frictions, the police got both the flags removed as a precautionary measure.

Flag war is like plague, unnecessary head ach to public. Moreover, hoisting flags of different communities in public place should be banned, it should be allowed with police permission for special occasions only as these days flag war is done just show their supremacy in that place concerned.

Let department and administration give strict instruction not to hoist any religious flags other than the place where the celebrations are held. Say they could do so only within a radius of 200-250 mtrs from the place of function it could be allowee to fix tube lights and other decorations. They should not tie this to Govt. or private property/building/trees unless they have written permission to do so by the concerned parties... and immediately after the function within one day... it should be cleared from the public roads... EXCEPT INSIDE THE PLACE OF WORSHIP - Like Temples/Church/Mosque and Gurudwara.... it could be allowed.. If this is strictly followed... we could reduce the tension drastically,,,

Whereas no religion preaches hatred towards other religion, LEADERS ARE DIVIDING PEOPLE ON RELIGIOUS LINES TO GET ELECTORAL GAINS.

We should do away with these illogical practices all over India. No flags or pictures of any religion should be allowed in public places and government buildings. Let us keep our religion and its identity within our private space.
It was shocking to see the young men in North India celebrating Muharram yesterday by wielding swords and guns and playing songs which hurt other communities. Same happens in this part of the world when Hindu brethren celebrate some feast. As a result there was stone pelting and chilli water poring on those wielding swords etc and many got injured and were hospitalized. Do we really need all this? If our PM has truly 56" chest then he should ban all these practices in every religion. Let's pave way for a peaceful and prosperous India and shun barbarism.

I can give you plenty of facts where swords and bomb making was caught by the police. But my intention of writing the comment was not at all what you have understood. I have only wanted that the violence and religion be separated and that all followers of all religions shun hatred and try hard to live in peace. If this comment of mine makes your heart burn then I cannot help you
