Independiente, River see goalless draw in Copa Libertadores match

Buenos Aires (Argentina), Sep 20 (IANS): The goalkeepers Martin Campana, from Independiente, and Franco Armani, from River Plate, were responsible for the goalless draw of their respective teams in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, played here.

Despite playing an intense game, no team managed to hit the goal due to the superb saves of their goalkeepers on Wednesday.

River started the match better, with Gonzalo Martinez, Juan Fernando Quintero, Lucas Pratto and Rafael Santos Borre effectively coordinating with one another, reports Efe news.

For their part, Independiente was by no means inferior. Maximiliano Meza managed the defense of his team and waged counterattacks together with Pablo Hernandez and Silvio Romero.

At the end of the game, Santos Borre had a shot to score a goal but it just hit the outside of the net.

The second leg will be played on October 2 at the River Plate Stadium, Monumental de Nunez.
