Mandya, Sep 20: In two separate incidents which happened in the district on Wednesday September 19, two persons drowned in water bodies during the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols.
The deceased were Varun (20) and Prajwal (21). Varun drowned in a pond when immersing the Lord's idol during the period he visited the house of a relative. This case was registered in Srirangapatna rural police station.
In the other case, Prajwal from Shivalli village in the taluk, who was an engineering student in Cauvery Institute of Engineering, drowned in V C canal near Sundapalli in the taluk when immersing an idol of Lord Ganesha. Prajwal's body is yet to be recovered. A case relating to his death stands registered in the rural police station here.
