Mangaluru, Sep 19: In an exemplary act of humanity, personnel from Animal Care Trust rescued a dog which was fighting for life after falling into a drum of bitumen paste that was brought for asphaltization of the road near Bajpe on the outskirts of the city.

The bitumen in the drum that was brought for road work was getting melted due to the heat of the Sun. A street dog fell into this drum accidentally. The dog, which got scared made all attempts to come out of it. However, it could not come out as the paste of bitumen was completely stuck on its body. The canine started to fight for life amidst these conditions.

On hearing the pitiful state of the dog, Members of Animal Care Trust, Shaktinagar came to the spot and removed the dog from the drum of bitumen with great difficulty. They took the dog immediately to their center and poured nearly 10 liters of cooking oil on its body. Then they slowly removed the bitumen paste of around 10 kg stuck on the body of the canine by scrubbing with a cloth. It took nearly three hours for the personnel to completely remove the bitumen from the body of the dog.

Now the dog is recovered completely and has got a sort of second life. The compassion shown by the members of Animal Care Trust is lauded by one and all in the city.
