Poinguinim: Man accused for assaulting minor gets bail


Poinguinim, Sep 19 (TOI): Deepak Naik, a resident of Gotcamolem near Sadolxem, who had allegedly assaulted a minor boy from Bhatpal, Canacona, was granted bail on Tuesday by the state children’s court in Panaji. Naik was charged under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.

The accused has been asked to be present for police investigation three days from Tuesday, said police sub-inspector Damodar Shirodkar. The accused had assaulted a minor boy while he was traveling by public bus as per a complaint filed at the Canacona police station by the boy’s mother. Following the complaint, the police had registered an offence against the accused. Fearing arrest, Naik had applied for anticipatory bail which was granted by the children’s court in Panaji.
