Mangaluru: Drunken cop creates nuisance on road at Lalbagh, suspended

Mangaluru, Sep 19: A shocking case came to light when a video went viral on social media in which a traffic policeman, who was allegedly drunk, creating problems for commuters on the road at Lalbagh. The incident happened on Wednesday, September 19.

The traffic policeman has been identified as Ashok Gowda attached to Pandeshwar traffic police station. The cop was suspended for his misconduct. 

In the video, locals are seen helping the cop in uniform off the road and taking him away. It is gathered that the Ashok had finished his duty when the incident took place.

DCP Uma Prashanth, Crime and Traffic, said that Ashok Gowda, who was working in traffic west police station, has been suspended for his misconduct.

    say in 1975..... Becha Becha maaal yenna gangasara..... paarley..... oraa paarley....
    Those days are gone... in morning by 730am every one walks for duty.... tile factory, cashew factory.... cooly work.... painting .... maaad repairy.... etc..... but in evening after 530pm.... most of them take shendhi,... or Sharabu from Small hut with red light where this GANGASARA is sold in glass..... and on road .... ding dong movement and some in ditch, some fight on road... finally at 7-8pm everyone is normal and way back to their home.....
    This is just from my childhood memories.... not related to anybody... but fact..

    Agreed we should show some compassion. But what about deterrents, discipline, examples to be set. The society should choose what is best, considering if old methods have worked in the past or not. We can't continue doing the same mistakes.     Yes, its a mistake by this cop to create this nuisance.

    The first thought that came to my mind- is this mistake greater than the "mistakes" or "nuisance" our so called politicians create day in day out at the Lok Sabha? They are so ill mannered and create obstacles to carry on proceedings in the house, thereby causing losses in crores when in fact they are to use that time productively for the betterment of the country. Who will bring these rascals to face justice? who will take them to task?

    You might have forgotten easily illada dhoomb..ganga sara bepanu eethina. To you he looks like heavy drunkard. May be somebody fetch him drinks..to mock latter. Daily drinking people never do some dramas. Are in control. Once in a year if drink..such things happened. They presume..alochol nothing but same like plain water.     good samaritans came to his rescue and protected him. Wise job on humanitarian ground. What is the action from higher ups yet to be known.

    Tell the truth mangalore,here I think you are not aware the situation of mangalore traffic police or other police.How many times police let go all offenders in traffic for a good amount.so you need not shoot to others comment..It is known to everyone .This police must have drunk after duty as it is so quoted.whatever it is he has done wrong.Afterall he was in uniform.Thats not allowed so he should be warned not immediately suspended.As he is a govt.servent he can be suspended after three warnings as I know.He is a sick person when he is drunk.Send him to treatment so that early he can be cured.
