Mangaluru, Sep 18: The most eligible bachelor of Dakshina Kannada's political circle, Youth Congress leader, Mithun Rai, got engaged recently with Sharanya Shetty from the city

His alliance with Sharanya was solemnized in the presence of elder members of his community on Sunday September 16 with the exchange of Thamboolam, the traditional way of confirming the relationship. Only about 50 members of Rai's family and close ones were present at the function.

Mithun is the son of well-known surgeon Dr Mahabala Rai and entered politics at a very young age during his student days.

Sharanya happens to be a postgraduate, having secured MCom degree. It is leant that his marriage would be arranged one, will be held during March next year.

Mithun Rai was an aspirant for Congress ticket during the assembly election from Moodbidri constituency this year. His name is also cropping up for Lok Sabha seat from Mangalore.

Mithun Rai has been following the practice of doling out cows to poor people on the occasion of Diwali festival, is an astute theist. He also happens to be a loyal Congressman. He can be counted among those youth Congress leaders who have the most fan following.

In Congress circle, Mithun Rai is known to be close to state minister and powerful Congress Vokkaliga leader DK Shivkumar.
