Chikkmagaluru: Catholic Konkani Rakan Sanchalan celebrates Monti Fest

Chikkmagaluru, Sep 17: Catholic Konkani Rakan Sanchalan, Chikkmagaluru and Hassan, held a grand celebration of 12th Monthi Festacho Sambrham (The Feast of Nativity of Our Lady) on September 16, at Chikkmagaluru Catholic Club. The beautiful decorations of the venue CKRS received an overwhelming participation from CKRS members and their families, including all the parishes of diocese. There was a good response from priests and religious sisters. A crowd of 1,500 gathered for the grand event.

The event began with the procession of Infant Mother Mary statue from with new corn to show love and devotion to beloved Mother Mary, followed by veneration and the Holy Eucharist in Konkani. The celebrant for the Mass Fr Joe Mary Lobo, director of Christa Sharana Ashrama, Birur gave a very good homily and message to the people. After the Mass, cultural programme, especially dances and skits from various parishes were held under the leadership of president Pramod Pinto. The cultural event was compered by a well-known compere Alwyn D’Souza and the games were conducted by Alwyn Pinto, Dubai.

A sumptuous lunch was served to the people.

Scholarships were presented to students from the diocese who excelled in academics.

C T Ravi, MLA, Chikkmagaluru and T D Raje Gowda, MLA, Shringeri were felicitated.

Michael Baptist, S F Lewis and Stany D’Silva had sponsored the programme.

Stanislaus D’Silva, Sunil Gilbert Baptist, Lancy J Noronha, Steevan Lobo and Nelson D’Silva were present.
