Mangaluru: Catholic delegation visits Ganeshotsava at Sanghaniketan

Mangaluru, Sep 16: In heart-warming gesture fostering the spirit of unity and harmony, leaders of Catholic delegation along with nuns of St Joseph Ashoknagar Convent, Ganeshotsava's celebrations at Sanganiketan here on Sunday, September 16.

Sr Jyothi, Sr Maria, Sr Anitha, Sr Rosa, Sr Sujatha and secretary of Catholic Sabha Celestine D’Souza was welcomed by Sanghaniketan Ganeshotsava committee.

The Catholic delegation and nuns offered fruits and flowers to Lord Ganesh and exchanged greetings.

Secretary of Catholic Sabha Celestine D’Souza said, “Every year, we visit Sanghaniketan and exchange greetings. It feels good to be part of this celebration which leads to peace and harmony among various communities. We will continue this even next year. I wish everyone a happy Ganesh Chathurti.”

    We should live in harmony with all religions. Fine. Do not hate or insult any religion but at the same time live happily among them as our brothers and sisters . But it doesn't mean that our Religious sisters have to follow what others are doing. Where is their faith? They should have knowledge of God's first commandment and what St. Paul says regarding the idol worship, food offered to idols and offerings. ( Corinthians ch.8 & 10 )

    We should remain faithful to our Roman Catholic religion only. Will the other religions follow our rituals? In old testament & New testament people and prophets had been tortured and martyred for the sake of Faith. There is no compromise with regard to our faith and worship. Since this kind of behavior has been happening, the people are going away from our Roman catholic Church. This is a serious matter concerns our faith as per Bible teaching. Do the Muslim brothers do this kind of action?

    Mangalorean catholics should come out of their 'English people' or 'westernised' identity and gel with the people around them. Only then, they will become acceptable in the community and they will not be looked at with suspicion. Our children should be encouraged to learn local languages and understand local cultures rather than mouthing a lot of broken english and dream of settling in the west. The above attempt is a step in that direction.

    This is the essence of life. Live in harmony. To be frank, people of Mangalore are very friendly with each other. But some people due to influence of political parties create communal disharmony. The above gesture is a slap on those who spread communal venom. I was watching new Bishop's installation ceremony and was happy to see our MP Nalin Kumar, MLA Vedavyas Kamath sitting besides ex MLA J.R.Lobo. Really liked the speech by new Bishop and hope Mangaloreans will not give any heed to communal hatred guys.

    LIVE IN PEACE AND HARMONY irrespective of caste or creed. I am glad that well known sisters (nuns) have taken the initiative of BROTHERHOOD.

    Yes that is the essence of life. Live, Appreciate and Let Live. this makes the world a great place to co-exist. Or else some live like lions some tigers some buffaloes, some wolves. No one respects any one no one appreciates any one everyone wants to be a tundu raja and want to impose his rule on the other....

    It looks good to be going this way that we appreciate as we did in the past and unlike in the recent past. it looks and feels good to be friendly to every one irrespective of cast, creed, religion, language, race, state and culture and PARTY. it is a Beautiful world we live it let us make better and keep it better for the generations to come. At times we wonder our new generation is not rational and not appreciating....and we are the shareholders in this development.

    Nature evolves and protects itself, No one is superior and no one is inferior. if we get this right then there is no need for explanations and no need for redressal.

    Worship and visit are obviously different, any one is free to visit any temple of any religious community. One worships where one has faith and believes. where there is no faith and belief that is only a kind gesture, a visit, an appreciation, an acknowledgement and that is very much needed and welcome and perfectly fine. that is called living appreciating and loving to live together with respect to each other.

    one needs to live ones life in faith and love towards all and malice to none. if this is not the motive then we become infidels and barbaric groups and barbaric people who think of self as superior to whom there begets another that will think likewise whether we like it or not.....
    Believers worship and non believers just visit and show appreciation.
    It is time to live, love, appreciate, worship, just visit, smile, and let live. It is a Great time of Festivities and nature is green all around full of life and earth is happy and fine.

    Appreciable move, well done. This is what our new Bishop, Most Rev. Peter Paul said in ತುಳು yesterday, that we should bring down the walls of disharmony and love each other. Our land is known for communal harmony. During my childhood in my village in Panjimar, Shirva we all used to live like one family. We used to participate in every religious celebration in my neighborhood starting from ತಂಬಿಲ, ಕೋಲ, ಮಾರಿ ಪೂಜೆ..ಅಷ್ಟಮಿ, ಚೌತಿ... and they used to be our guests on our festivals Christmas, Easter, Parish feast..we never felt anything wrong in this. We grew in our faith and they grew in theirs. I continued this even in my days in medical college, where I used to visit temples with my friends. We have to have respect to each others religion, their celebrations, their beliefs and then only we develop respect to our fellow human beings. Humanity is first, religion is next.

    Lord Ganesha is a symbol of Cosmic Knowledge and Wisdom. This festival should be universal. Even the festival was popularised to unite people at one time.
    We should all make little efforts to study and search the real meaning of others culture, practices and festivals.

    Communal harmony only exists in india due to majority people. Are visiting each and every religious place of all communities and worshipping them from there heart. These tradition teach by our elders from childhood. In between there is no fooling game exists to inspire anybody or lure some community people. We bow in front of all gods..godesses...saints..elderly people. But freedom what given to others by our ancestors misused by others for there gain.
