Politicians supporting rape accused Jalandhar Bishop, claims nun's brother

Kochi, Sep 13 (DC): Brother of the Kerala nun who has accused Jalandhar Roman Catholic priest of rape, on Thursday said that influential politicians are shielding and supporting Bishop Franco Mulakkal.

The rape survivor’s brother alleged that with eye on upcoming elections, the Kerala government is refraining from taking any action to break cordiality between the church and the authorities.

He also questioned police inaction in the case and said, “Police have not done anything in the past 78 days.”

“Kerala government is not taking any action as they do not want to break the cordiality between the church and the authorities as elections are approaching. Influential politicians are supporting him,” the brother of Kerala nun said.

The brother of the nun earlier alleged that a relative of the accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal and two other priests approached his friend and conveyed that they are willing to pay Rs 5 crore if the nun withdraws her complaint.

In her complaint lodged with Kottayam district police, the nun who is in her late 40s accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of raping and having unnatural sex with her multiple times between 2014 and 2016.

Earlier this week, the nun wrote to the Vatican seeking justice. In her letter to The Apostolic Nuncio of India, Giambattista Diquattro – an Ambassador to the Pope, she listed names of all the people she had asked for help, including the Pope himself. Nobody has bothered to help her.

The nun said she was writing the letter to the Vatican as “victim of sexual abuse who is seeking justice”.

“From childhood we have been taught to believe that the Church is our mother. But in the light of my experience I am beginning to think that the Church is a stepmother to women and laity,” the letter stated.

“… Bishop Franco had always an eagle’s eye on few other MJ (Missionaries of Jesus) sisters as well. Whichever sister Bishop Franco felt attraction to, he tried to put them in his trap by force or taking advantage of their weaknesses.”

“… Though Bishop Franco had sexually abused me several times, I could not reveal the full story to my Superior General or to her Councilors. I only told them repeatedly that the Bishop is taking many disciplinary actions through them just because I resisted to lie down with him. As they failed to understand even the seriousness of these words, I could not tell them more than this. And I had the fear that Bishop Franco may harm me with the support of my superiors (sic).”

After public outrage and persistent protests by nuns, the Kerala police on Wednesday summoned Bishop Franco Mulakkal on September 19 for questioning him about his alleged involvement in the case.

To the brothers of the so called nun, we ask you, why your sister kept quiet for so many years and now come out to speak just because she was transferred? My request to you brothers, take time to pray and spend valuable time with your sister to know the exact fact before accusing anyone.

As I said earlier, no victim keeps silence for years. Remember, God knows the truth and its important to know the facts from this nun. Until then, there is no reason to support and blame anyone.

We have a law for justice.

Some people make a story. Often to get attention. At times to get their imagined enemy into trouble.

But what happens when they have repeated their story to many people?

The same story-makers starts believing that their own fiction to be real.

So it appears is the case with this nun.

However, the police have found far too many bits that keep the nun's story firmly in the domain of fiction.

The nun must be very confused. To believe her own story, or the version untangled by the police?

This Is One Example Only. Its Shame For all of us that tjis case is not handled properly. Nun should be given protection as powerful evil forces are strong there in Kerala.

Another example Jeethendra was accused of molestation 40 Years Back .

I have seen fewJeethendras(Few cases) In our Community in mangalore Who Are now in Ripe ages of 60 +Or 70+. Though these Jeethendras had families they were not satisfied .These rogues are now Community Leaders busy laughing at others. Better Put a tape recorder in their heads and press rewind button .

Nun is now popular world wide. If she knew everything what others didn't why she fell in the trap? For sure Bishop is human to err but this lady spoiled every body name in the process. Now she blame the whole of Roman Catholic Church. Churches is for the faithful and no Court to judge anybody.

Sorry ,I find some inconsistent in Nuns saying.why did she allow him to rape her from 2014-16?Did she not have the guts or shamed for her part in it?Now making public about it and writing everywhere ,and asking for justice looks complete unbelievable.I dont say he didnt rape .But she should have been as a Nun shouldnt have allowed to go so far.where there noone she could confine? Now if so she should comeout of her convent.WHEN Bishop too is found guilty he should be also punished and Pope must put him out.so simple is that.

Still looks like FICTITIOUS AND FABRICATED ???
If FACTUAL, if BISHOP is GUILTY, BISHOP SHOULD BE PUNISHED,
If BISHOP is NOT GUILTY, THE NUN SHOULD BE PUNISHED.
Others involved in this episode, from either sides, should be equivalently culpable~??

Asaram has been in the custody during the trial itself.
The bishop also should get same treatment and treated as rapist.

There is inconsistency in everyone's statement as per Kerala Police. That's the reason investigation gets delayed.
