Bengaluru: Four persons of family returning from funeral die in accident

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Sep 13: In a tragic accident that took place between a car and a BMTC bus at 2.45 pm on Wednesday, September 12 on Yamalur - Doddanekundi Road, off old Airport Road here four people lost their lives. Three among the deceased are women. One woman, who is seriously injured, is admitted to a private hospital.

The deceased persons, who died on the spot are identified as Levin Joseph (24) and his mother Nirmala Mercy Joseph (56), while those who succumbed to injuries in the Jeevika Hospital are Yalasamma (52) and Reena Britto (50), who are relatives of the Josephs. Another relative, Sreeja, who was in the car with the deceased people is in a critical condition and is being treated at Vydehi Hospital in the city.

These people were coming back after laying Levin's uncle to rest, who died on Tuesday. Levin's father survived as he stayed back at his brother's home after the funeral at Ulsoor.

Prima facie it seems, according to the police reports, that it was the fault of Levin, who was driving the car. He collided with the BMTC bus in a bid to overtake the car which was ahead of him. It is said that the BMTC bus was in the proper lane when the accident took place. However, a clear picture will emerge only after the investigation is completed.

The family had moved to the city around 20 years ago as per the information shared by their relatives as Joseph, the head of the family had secured a job in a private company.
They used to reside at Munnekolalu near Doddanekundi.

Levin, who died in the accident, was working in Dubai and had returned to the city a few days ago. The reason for his return could not be ascertained. However, according to sources he was back in the city and looking out for a job.

The police said that the post-mortem of the bodies will be done on Thursday, September 13. The car is totally mangled in the accident. Both the car and the bus have been seized by the police and the driver of the BMTC bus, which was plying from HAL airport bus stand to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), is detained for questioning.

Overtaking is not a joke. People behind the wheels the drivers must be very very carefull on roads. Never attempt to overtake unless the road is clear to do so. It is very sad very tragic. Hope people will learn from these mistakes of the drivers.

When a soul departs at an unholy hour, it drags along another 2 or 4. In all such cases, it is wise to consult a learned astrologer before initiating a return journey or for that matter, implications of the death. Hinduism has very protective clauses in such cases.
Four precious lives could have been really safely saved.

Levin, the driver of the vehicle, was 24.

People younger than 25 should not get driving license easily.

They treat driving as if playing a video game.

My simple advice: do not get into a vehicle - public transport or private - driven by someone younger than 25.
