Mumbai: Upward journey continues - petrol touches Rs.90.11 in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Sep 11 (IANS): Petrol prices on Tuesday breached the psychological barrier of Rs 90 and touched a scorching Rs 90.11 in Maharashtra's Parbhani - a new record in India, an official said.

Parbhani District Petrol Dealers Association (PDPDA) President Sanjay Deshmukh told IANS that diesel prices also increased from Rs 77.92 to Rs 78.06 on Tuesday.

On Monday, the petrol price was Rs 89.97 and diesel stood at Rs 77.92 in the town with a population of around 3,10,000, around 500 kms east of Mumbai in Marathwada region.

On the 15th day of consecutive hikes, petrol prices increased on Tuesday by Rs 0.14 and diesel by Rs 0.15, from 6 a.m, barely two days before the state's biggest 10-day Ganeshotsav festival begins.

The other highest centres include Nanded where petrol was retailing at Rs 89.93 per litre and diesel Rs 77.90, and Amravati Rs 89.93 and Rs 78.84.

Elsewhere in Maharashtra, in Thane petrol retailed at Rs 88.43 and diesel Rs 77.64, Mumbai was Rs 88.35 and diesel at Rs 77.56.

On Monday, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party termed the hike in petroleum products as a 'momentary difficulty' owing to an international crisis after the Opposition parties in the country observed a Bharat Bandh, to protest the skyrocketing fuel prices.

Now with fuel prices touching the skies, PM Modi's BJP government after 'Yoga' it may ask citizens to take 'bicycle' for good health through his 'Maan ki baat' to hide the economic failure.

Yesterday BJP Delhi unit IT cell released confusing chart only adds to the impression of Modi’s government being a ‘photoshop sarkar’. This one chart is the perfect illustration of the ‘truth’ of the BJP government. It appears to be a bar graph of fuel prices, yet somehow the figure for September 10, 2018, Rs 72, is much lower than the Rs 56 it was on 16 May 2014, when the Congress-run United Progressive Alliance lost the Lok Sabha elections to Modi’s BJP. In fact, the bar even shows Rs 72 to be lower than the Rs 30 the price was more than nine years ago, in 2009.

Rising petrol prices: What Narendra Modi said before 2014 and his govt did in 4 years is more interesting.
Rising prices including those of petrol and diesel were among the reasons that brought down the UPA government of Manmohan Singh, whom the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had described as a "Sardar (chief), who is not asardar (effective)".

As Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had termed the hike in petrol prices as "a prime example of the failure of the Congress-led UPA."

Massive hike in #petrol prices is a prime example of the failure of Congress-led UPA. This will put a burden of hundreds of crores on Guj-Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 23, 2012

At current costs, India has the highest retail prices of petrol and diesel among South Asian nations. Taxes account for half of the pump rates for each litre of petrol and diesel. There is demand for bringing petrol and diesel under GST. If it happens petrol may be available at Rs 38 a litre.

But when the PM Modi's government collected Rs 11 lakh crores from taxes, why the government will think about passing the benefit to the common man?

Where are 100 smart cities in 5 years?
Why hasn't black money (Rs.15 lakhs per person) been brought back to India?
Where are 2 crore jobs (per year) for our youth?
Why have right-wing hooligans taken over law & order?
Why was Demonetization a DISASTER and SCAM?
Why have Fuel and Food prices skyrocketed?
Why has 'Make in India' failed ?
    Why has 'Skill India' failed?
Why did BJP allow Mallya, Nirav and Lalit Modi to escape?
Why are Farmers still committing suicide due to debts and no support?
Why has ill-planned GST ruined small and medium-sized traders?
Why has the Foreign Policy with China, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Pak failed?

Government says - 'A one rupee cut in the price per liter would result in a loss of Rs 30000 crore on a annualized basis'!!!. Now I am wondering how much the government is looting the public if you consider excise duty was raised a dozen times times citing low international prices and hence low income for government!. Now bakhts calculate how much is government getting by raising Rs. 11.77 per liter petrol and Rs 13.47 per liter of diesel!. Its a whopping Rs. 7,57,200 crores per year!!!!. So in the last 4 years government has collected roughly Rs. 7,57,200 multiplied by 3(all 4 years may not be equal) equals Rs. 22,71,600 crores!!!!!. Unimaginable proportions of organised loot and plunder!!!. Remember, this amount is only from the excise duty hike which Modi government did in last 4 years!. Now calculate, how much government is looting on every liter of fuel considering the entire tax!!!

All the antics of the BJP and its leaders Jootley, R S Prasad, Modi. Shah, Smriti Irani, Sushma Swaraj, Jawdekar, Rajnath and sundry way back in 2012/13 on the rupee, fuel prices, rising prices have come back to haunt them.

Their verbal diarrhea of those days is making them look like fools now.

The petrol prices were deregulated by MMS government and yet they blamed the government for spiralling prices even though the global prices were at an all time high.

Today these very same accusers are putting their hands up in the air and shamelessly saying that the government is not responsible for rising prices. If this government is helpless, then it better quit and make way for someone else to do the job.

In this age of social media one has to be very careful what he speaks. Everything said is recorded and stored.

They accused MMS for his silence, ridiculed him and called him Maun Mohan Singh. Now Dr. Singh must be having a last laugh at the expense of these silly loud mouths who have bitten more than they can chew. He did not open his mouth and rant and shout like these clowns, but administered silently and efficiently.

Sri_elder, This is wrt your 'brainchild about' solar power from bus rooftop' . As a thumb rule, to generate 1KW electricity it takes about 10 square meters of solar panels. Looking at the current state of affairs, it's evident that PM must be having people like you for scientific advisors.
