To send 3 trucks to Kodagu

Mangaluru, Aug 21: As part of providing relief to flood-hit Kerala, ICYM Mangaluru diocese sent 6 trucks of food, clothes and items needed for everyday use to Kerala on Monday, August 20.

ICYM Central Council was quick to respond when news on Kerala floods started to spread. They immediately planned a project calling K2K (Kudla to Kerala) and requested all units of the diocese to collect relief materials.

Speaking to the media ICYM central council spiritual director Fr Ronald D’Souza said, “Our youth responded very quickly and took the initiative to help people who were devastated due to Kerala floods. So far they have succeeded in collecting material worth Rs 30 lacs and today they are sending it to Kerala,”

“Basically, the people of Kerala now need food, water and clothing. So ICYM central council concentrated on collecting these materials. We have received an overwhelming response for the K2K mission. On behalf of all the office bearers of ICYM, I am thankful to all donors,” he added.

“Apart from sending 6 trucks to Kerala we are sending another 3 trucks to Kodagu, our neighbouring district. People in Kodagu have lost everything and it is our responsibility to help them,” said ICYM central council president Jaison Pereira.
